Christian Aid has set aside K250m collateral- free-loans to be disbursed to 50 business groups out of 250 groups in Phalombe and Mulanje districts by December this year.

Program specialist at Christian Aid, Robert Thindwa, says the funds will support groups to venture into value addition, among other things.

Nkhata said this today in Phalombe when the organization launched the initiative in partnership with Alliance Development Africa Foundation(ADAF) under the program dubbed rural entrepreneurship assistance program.

Phalombe district council, Community development officer, Sydney Nkata, has urged the beneficiaries to put good use the resources to uplift their socio economic status.

Meanwhile, secretary for Alinafe bakery group, Esther Enock, has commended the organization for the support, adding that it will help them to graduate from poverty.

Christian Aid is today hosting a review meeting for the Rural Entrepreneurship Assistance Programme at Mount Soche in Blantyre. The project aims at reducing income poverty of 5250 through VSLA and supporting agro-NRM related value additions in Mulanje and Phalombe District. The meeting has attracted stakeholders from Community Development,Trade and Agribusiness for both Districts. The project is running from November 2022 to October 2025.

Alliance Development Africa Foundation (ADAF) is inviting suitably qualified individuals to apply for the position of Programs Graduate Trainees. The successful candidates will report to the Program Officers and provide support in the implementation of ADAF projects within the Programs Department.

Key Responsibilities:
•Assist the Program Officer in a variety of project activities related to planning, implementation, and reviewing of projects.
•Support mobilization, facilitate training sessions, engage with stakeholders, and assist with management and reporting of project activities.
• Participate in project monitoring and evaluation, including field support visits.
• Engage directly with ADAF staff and perform any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Competences:
•Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, Social Sciences, Business Studies, or Economics.
•Aged 25 years and below.
•One-year undergraduate internship with a reference letter is mandatory. (post graduate relevant experience an added advantage)
• Adherence to Christian Values, as ADAF operates on Christian principles.

Together with our partners and we have joined other NGOs in amplifying our role in shaping the future of Malawi.

The commemoration is being graced by His Excellency, Dr Lazarus Chakwera under the theme "Strengthening Partnerships and Capacity in the NGO sector, panacea for achieving Malawi 2063.
