Today we celebrate the strength, creativity, and resilience of women everywhere. 💜
At Mizu Ya Chikondi, we are especially proud of the incredible women artisans whose hands weave not only beautiful baskets, but also hope, opportunity, and stronger communities. Each strand they weave tells a story of determination, skill, and empowerment.
This International Women’s Day, we honor the women who continue to rise, support one another, and build brighter futures for the next generation.
✨ When women are empowered, communities thrive.
Happy International Women’s Day! 💜🌍

Did you know? Research shows that children with proper nutrition are 25% more likely to perform better academically. At Mizu Ya Chikondi, we were honored to host Good Health clinic that provided nutritional checks for our children—because good health is the foundation of quality education.

Mizu ya Chikondi, in collaboration with our sister organization Woven Agenda Foundation, we are committed to empowering widows and single mothers in our community with practical skills and business knowledge to help them become financially independent.

Many of these women are survivors of gender-based violence (GBV) and are raising children on their own—including some who care for orphans from our school. Through a community-led weaving program, they are turning their skills into opportunity.

Together, we are weaving not just goods, but hope, dignity, and a brighter future for our women and children.

A grassroots charity organisation, Mizu ya Chikondi, is constructing a community-based care centre in Tathera village, T/A Chigalu Blantyre to ensure women’s empowerment and provide early childcare.

The organisation supports children around Tathera village with early childhood needs such as, nutritious meals, and essential human rights protection services. The organisation will now have a fully operational infrastructure that will provide all services under one roof.

Speaking during the ground-breaking ceremony at the construction site, Mizu ya Chikondi founder Idah Geoffrey emphasized the vision of the organization, which is centred on building a community childcare centre for children and a women’s centre for skills development.

“The project aims at providing a safe, nurturing environment for children while offering women opportunities for economic empowerment through skills training,” said Geoffrey.

Guest at the event Carol Fraiser, a law professor at Northwestern University USA, applauded the organization’s work and vision, commending it for developing income-generating projects to help sustain women and children from the community.

Back to School with Creativity & Care 🎉 😍 !!
Today at Mizu ya Chikondi, our kids tried painting and drawing for the very first time for most of them— and it wasn’t just fun, it was healing.

All thanks to our sister organization, Woven Agenda Foundation
