Malawi Labour Force Survey 2024, released by National Statistical Office (NSO) indicates that unemployment rate is at 19.7 percent.

The survey indicates youth unemployment for those aged between 15 to 35 years in the labour force is at 21.5 percent.

NSO Commissioner of Statistics Shelton Kanyenda presented the findings during a press briefing held in Zomba.

The survey reveals 97 6 of Malawians are in the informal sector.

Kanyanda said they released the findings specifically today as the country joins the rest of continent in commemorating African Statistics Day.
