Today, as Chair of the Mining Thematic Group under the Balaka District CSO Network, Sue Ryder Foundation convened CSO leaders at our office in Balaka.

We were joined by representatives from: FASMA, Chinansi Foundation, MEJN, MAWIA, Debate Club, AZITONA Prison Fellowship Malawi , Child Focus Organization, Ngwangwa FM , Nkhadze Alive Youth Organization-NAYORG , and Foundation for Civic Education & Social Empowerment .

Together we discussed how to ensure mining activities benefit local communities while protecting people’s rights and the environment in Balaka.
