Vaikaradhoo is home to many talented young people with skills across carpentry, craft, technology, farming and trade. Yet the island faces a real challenge: very limited economic activity, and few structured ways to earn an income at home.

VILU was created to close that gap — mobilising local talent, encouraging entrepreneurship, and building a strong, self-sustaining community that doesn't have to leave the island to find a future.

Almost every child on the island, above 10 years old, participated in our program and enjoyed the baking session. We made delicious butter cookies and chocolate cookies, and all the students actively took part in the project during this session.

It feels more like we’re all gathered in a family kitchen than attending a training session. We learn together, work together, and share the same table as one team.
