❤️varugadha — Strong Heart, Ready Hands

Hiyvarugadha is a joint campaign by Tiny Hearts of Maldives and the Maldivian Red Crescent, built around one simple idea: a heart-healthy Maldives, where anyone can save a life.

Strong hearts begin with prevention. Understanding our heart health, knowing our risks and detecting problems early. But when a cardiac emergency happens, strong hearts also mean ready hands: people who have the confidence and skills to step forward, start CPR and help save a life.

Hiyvarugadha brings both together through three areas: Know Your Heart. Learn to Act. Build Heart-Ready Communities.

As part of this initiative, we have also launched the Maldives CPR Playlist using familiar Maldivian songs to help people remember the rhythm of CPR and make lifesaving knowledge more relatable and easier to recall.

Because caring for our own hearts and being ready to help someone else should go hand in hand.

On World Restart a Heart Day yesterday, we were proud to join hands with the Maldivian Red Crescent Maldivian Red Crescent to launch Hiyvarugadha (“Strong Heart”) as the Maldives marked World Restart a Heart Day for the very first time.

For us, Hiyvarugadha carries more than one meaning.

The stronger our hearts are, the better our chances of preventing and surviving a cardiac event and making a stronger recovery. Building heart health through prevention, knowing our risk factors, staying active and looking after our Heart Numbers all matter long before an emergency happens.

But it also takes a strong heart to respond when someone else’s heart stops.

It takes courage to step forward. It takes confidence to start CPR. And it takes a community willing to learn how to recognise a cardiac emergency and act in those critical first few minutes.

That is why Hiyvarugadha is about both sides of the story: strong hearts that are healthier and more resilient, and strong hearts that are ready to respond and save a life.

This World Restart a Heart Day also saw the launch of the Dhivehi CPR Songs playlist, bringing familiar Maldivian music into CPR awareness and helping our community remember the rhythm that could one day help save a life. We express our deepest heartfelt gratitude to the family of late Mezzo Mohamed Majid for contributing his legendary music to our efforts to save lives and nurture a heart healthy Maldives.

We hope this is only the beginning of more people learning CPR, more communities prepared to respond, and a nation working together to build stronger hearts.

Sweaty, rain-soaked, tired and still smiling. ❤️🎨🌧️

The rain came, some of the work had to be done all over again, and the light slowly started to fade. But our young Tiny Hearts volunteers kept going.

They swept away the rainwater, dried the ground, picked up their brushes again and redid what needed to be redone, keeping each other’s spirits high right until the end.

This was about more than painting an activity circuit. It was about teamwork, patience, resilience and showing up even when things don’t go exactly to plan and mostly community.

It takes a heart village. ❤️

A village of young volunteers, helping hands, paint-covered fingers, laughter, teamwork — and one shared purpose: creating spaces where children can move more, play more, and grow up with healthier hearts.

Our young Tiny Hearts volunteers came together to bring the Hearty Break activity circuit to life, one brushstroke at a time. 🎨

Because building a heart-healthy generation takes all of us.
