U-Link is a non governmental organisation (NGO) duly registered with the Registration of Associations since Jan 2004. Our mission is to be a helping hand to children with disabilities and other NGO in Mauritius.

Today, the Down Syndrome Association Mauritius had the great pleasure and honour of welcoming Ancella, Secretary of the African Down Syndrome Network, among us at the Emirates Sports Complex Gymnasium.

This meaningful gathering reflected far more than a simple visit — it symbolised unity, inclusion, friendship, and the collective strength of persons with Down syndrome, families, professionals, and advocates working together across Africa.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined and contributed to making this moment so special and memorable.

More than 50% of teachers oppose plans to merge mainstream and special education, according to a survey by the Algemene Onderwijsbond (AOb). Less than 20% of respondents support the government’s proposal to integrate all pupils into the same classroom by 2035 under the policy of inclusive education.
A spokesperson for Tielen said it is still unclear how many special education schools will continue operating.

Un système encore inexistant à Maurice

Toutefois, Ali Jookhun insiste sur le fait que la réalité mauricienne reste très différente. À ce jour, Maurice ne possède ni école spécialisée pour chiens guides, ni formateurs qualifiés, ni structures capables d’encadrer un tel dispositif à grande échelle. Mettre en place ce système nécessiterait des investissements importants, un accompagnement vétérinaire spécifique ainsi qu’un cadre légal précis. «Cette question ne peut être abordée de manière simpliste», souligne-t-il.
