In a small forgotten part of Mauritius the extraordinary NGO, Association Amour et Espoir supports over 200 children in desperate circumstances.

I61 Foundation, together with one of our long standing funding partners, has been providing a weekly fruit delivery to these children for the past 5 years, improving their nutrition and school attendance.

This week everyone got to meet and celebrate Easter with chocolate and oranges! What a special, special time. Showing how important it is for funders to visit the recipients of their generosity and honor the staff who make it all possible.

Thank you to you all ♥️

What a way to celebrate the independence of Mauritius - joining in the dancing and pure joy of the occasion, surrounded by the bright colours of our beautiful flag!

The NGO, Bonheur Associé Aux Enfants (BAE), is an oasis of love, learning and laughter for 45 children living in a community ravaged by drugs and poverty. The deep care provided to these children is found in daily packed lunches, school supplies and after school classes. This provision has been made possible, in part, by MOL Charitable Trust (MCT). I61 Foundation has proudly been partnering with BAE and MCT for the last five 5 years on this project.

Spending the time together yesterday, sharing the celebrations with these wonderful children, typified our island’s diversity in culture and friendship.

Empowering Communities Through Agri-Entrepreneurship.

Down in the southeast of Mauritius there is chatter and laughter in the fields as these local ladies learn how to prepare the land for planting. Meanwhile, Chany is harvesting fresh green beans in the adjacent plot.

It is always a highlight for us to visit ENL Foundation in L’Escalier and see how they are transforming lives through the La Ferm Nou Leritaz Project.

This project supports individuals by providing them with technical farming training and entrepreneurship training that will equip them with the knowledge needed to sustain and develop their businesses. With their newly acquired skills in agriculture, these ladies will be able to produce vegetables for their homes as well as generate income through the sale of their produce.

If you would like to empower women in rural communities get in touch !

Did you know that 70-85% of the population of Mauritius (an island with more than 150km of beaches) cannot swim, posing a significant risk to their safety, particularly as they often engage in recreational activities near or in the ocean.

To address this situation, the NGO, Hope House, set up the Salt Swimmers Project.

By equipping youngsters living in coastal communities with essential swimming and water safety skills as well as raising awareness about the risks associated with water-related activities, Hope House empowers vulnerable youth by providing swimming and water safety training sessions.

I61 Foundation, through ongoing donor support, funded equipment to strengthen the Salt Swimmers Project. Ensuring the coaches and the children are well equipped allows for a relaxed, fun learning environment.

The project is an ongoing success as Hope House continues to reach further into vulnerable communities and different age groups of beneficiaries.
