"Unite for Good" – Our Journey Together

​What does it take to build a stronger club?

​On March 7th, the Rotary Club of Salazie-Brisée Verdière gathered for a full-day working session titled "Unite for Good". It wasn’t just a meeting; it was a day of deep reflection, honest communication, and renewed commitment.

​Our journey through the day included:
◇​The Human Barometer: We started by taking a stand—literally—practicing empathy by explaining perspectives different from our own.
◇​The Honest Mirror: We conducted a deep-dive SWOT analysis to acknowledge our challenges and identify our strengths to move forward.
◇​The Blind Minefield: We navigated a "minefield" of chaos to learn the vital importance of clear communication and trust when things get loud.
◇​Future Headlines: We visualized our success by designing magazine covers for our club’s impact in 2030.
◇​The Hidden Asset Hunt: We "auctioned" our professional skills and "weird" talents to solve high-pressure crisis scenarios, proving that together, we are unbeatable.
◇​The Affirmation Ponchos: We closed the day by writing words of appreciation on each other’s backs, leaving with a "poncho" full of the value we bring to this club.

​We ended with a symbolic gift: an empty box. Why? Because the real gift isn't something you can buy—it’s the people in this circle and the trust we are rebuilding together.

​A new chapter for our club has begun. Let’s keep "Serving Above Self"!

As 2025 comes to a close, the Rotary Club of Salazie Brisée Verdière reflects with gratitude on a year of committed service and collective effort.

Through our educational initiatives, including ongoing library and school projects, as well as actions supporting health and community development, our club remained focused on creating meaningful and lasting impact.

As we welcome 2026, we reaffirm our commitment to serve with integrity, purpose, and collaboration. Together, we look forward to strengthening our projects, nurturing partnerships, and continuing to serve our communities in Mauritius and Rodrigues in the true spirit of Rotary.

A Meaningful Day Dedicated to Youth Education and Awareness

On Sunday, 7 December 2025, the Rotary Club of Salazie Brisée Verdière organised a full-day educational and recreational activity for 35 students and 20 members of staff from Baie aux huîtres Government School. This initiative was designed to promote learning beyond the classroom, encourage responsible citizenship, and support the holistic development of young people through structured exposure and awareness.

The programme commenced with an enriching visit to PP Viju’s vintage car collection at Bonne Mère, offering participants a unique cultural and historical experience. This was followed by an engaging session at the Centre Équestre de Belle Mare, where students interacted with horses and enjoyed supervised horse rides. The day continued with a picnic and briyani lunch on the beach, providing a relaxed setting for social interaction and reflection.

In line with Rotary’s commitment to prevention and education, the participants also attended a drug awareness session conducted by ADSU, highlighting the dangers and consequences of drug use. The presentation included a live demonstration of various substances, making the session particularly impactful and educational for the young audience. The Club extends its sincere appreciation to ADSU for their valuable contribution.

The National Coast Guard (NCG) further supported the initiative by delivering an awareness session on public beach safety, responsible use of coastal areas, and essential precautions to be taken while at sea.

This activity strongly aligns with Rotary’s Monthly Themes:

📘 September – Basic Education and Literacy, through experiential learning and awareness

🌱 October – Community Economic Development, by empowering youth with knowledge and life skills

💙 December – Disease Prevention and Treatment, through preventive education on substance abuse

RSBV - Service, Health, and Remembrance! 🌟

What an incredible day of impact we had yesterday, Sunday, November 30, 2025! We are so grateful to every Rotarian, friend, and guest who joined us in Belle Mare for a truly meaningful series of events.

🚶‍♀️ A Morning of Wellness & Reflection
Our day kicked off with a successful **Walk4Health** along the beautiful Belle Mare coastline! We then took a moment to reflect and pay our respects at the **Helderberg Disaster Memorial**, remembering the 159 lives lost on this tragic day in 1987.

❤️ Giving Back: Celebrating 17 Years of Service!
The highlight of our afternoon was our visit to the **Dr. C. Bhardwaj Ashram for the Elderly**. We were honoured to distribute essential **dry rations** to the residents and join the celebrations for the Ashram's **17th Anniversary!**

🙏 **A massive thank you to everyone who donated and contributed to the ration drive.** Your generosity is making a direct and comforting difference in the lives of the residents.

☀️ Fellowship and Community
We wrapped up a perfect day of service and remembrance with a wonderful fellowship session on the beach, strengthening our bonds of friendship until 3:30 PM.
