Here is an explanation what the logo represents (explanation by Nicolai Borg)

Inspired by the value behind OCTOPUSES FOR
PREEMIES MALTA, this logo represents an octopus
holding two babies.
The main subject of this logo is the octopus, which
represents the product produced by this organisation.

The middle tentacles are curved further than the
others to create a minimalist depiction of a baby. The
connection between the babies and the octopus
represent the babies holding on to the umbilicle cord
that the babies hold on to for support.
