🎄 Christmas Message of the Knights of Rizal 🎄

This Christmas season, the Knights of Rizal pause to reflect on the life, ideals and enduring legacy of Dr. Jose Rizal, whose love for country, moral courage and selfless sacrifice continue to guide our nation.

As Christmas reminds us of faith, hope and charity, Rizal’s life teaches us that true patriotism is expressed through integrity, service and love of neighbor. As Knights of Rizal, we are called to uphold his ideals...not through force, but through virtue, not through words alone, but through example.
“El verdadero patriotismo se demuestra con honor, carácter y servicio al bien común.”

May the spirit of Christmas renew our commitment to Rizal’s vision of a nation founded on justice, education and compassion. Let us be faithful guardians of his legacy and living witnesses to his principles in our communities.
“Que el espíritu de la Navidad fortalezca nuestro deber de preservar el legado de José Rizal para las futuras generaciones.”

🌟 Mabuhay si Jose Rizal. Mabuhay ang Pilipinas.
¡Viva Rizal! ¡Viva Filipinas! 🇵🇭
Merry Christmas to all. 🌟

- Shin

✅ Key Facts About José Rizal and Freemasonry /G\

1. Rizal became a Mason in 1884
• José Rizal was initiated into Acacia Lodge No. 9 in Madrid in 1884.
• His Masonic name was Dimasalang, which he also used as a pen name.

2. He reached the rank of Master Mason
• Rizal quickly rose through the degrees and became a Master Mason.
• His commitment to Masonic principles deeply influenced his political and philosophical views.

3. Masonic ideals shaped his writings
• Freemasonry’s themes—liberty, equality, education, anti-clericalism, and humanism—are present throughout:
• Noli Me Tángere
• El Filibusterismo
• His criticism of friar abuses aligned with the anticlerical stance of many continental Masonic lodges of his time.

4. Rizal joined Masonic circles of Filipino reformists in Europe
• He was part of a larger Filipino Mason network that included:
• Marcelo H. del Pilar
• Graciano López Jaena
• Mariano Ponce
• These groups used Freemasonry as a safe space for reform advocacy, since it offered protection and a fraternity of like-minded thinkers.

5. He helped reorganize Filipino Masonry
• In 1890, Rizal was involved in the reorganization of the Logia Solidaridad in Madrid.
• The lodge became an intellectual center for the Propaganda Movement.

6. Rizal’s essays sometimes used Masonic implications
• In essays such as “The Philippines a Century Hence” and “Letter to the Young Women of Malolos,” he promoted:
• enlightenment
• civic freedom
• education
• These are ideals strongly related to Masonry’s Enlightenment heritage.

7. The Spanish government linked Masonry with subversion
• Because many Filipino reformists and revolutionaries were Masons, Spanish authorities often blamed Freemasonry for:
• spreading liberal ideas
• promoting anti-friar sentiment
• inspiring the Filipino reform movement
• Rizal was indirectly associated with this suspicion.

8. But Rizal was not a revolutionary Mason
• Rizal never joined Katipunan, though the group revered him as an honorary inspiration.
• Unlike Bonifacio (also a Mason), Rizal remained committed to peaceful reform, consistent with his lodge’s moderate positions.

9. Many Masonic honors were given to Rizal after his death
• Filipino Masons later celebrated Rizal as:
• a model Mason
• a martyr for liberty
• Many lodges in the Philippines are named Dimasalang or Rizal in tribute to his influence.

10. Freemasonry deepened his belief in universal brotherhood
• Rizal admired Masonry’s emphasis on:
• multiracial fraternity
• secular ethics
• rationalism
• These shaped his ideas for a more just and modern Philippines
