ANSEK is proud to be part of the National Training Council for Local Government and to contribute to an initiative that places professional development, continuous learning and capacity building at the heart of local government.

The launch of the Local Government Training Prospectus marks an important step towards providing structured opportunities for those working within the sector to strengthen their knowledge, develop new skills and continue growing professionally.

As the association representing Executive Secretaries, ANSEK strongly believes that investing in the people who support and administer local government is essential to strengthening the services we provide to our communities.

We look forward to continuing to contribute to the work of the National Training Council and to supporting a culture of professional development, lifelong learning and excellence in local government.

ANSEK was pleased to participate in the Local Councils' Association Malta Plenary Session, following the kind invitation extended to our President Paul Gatt.

First of all, congratulations to AKL President Fava, the Executive Secretary Lianne Cassar, and the entire AKL team for the impeccable organisation of this important event.

While we closely follow AKL’s work throughout the year, seeing the extensive range of initiatives and projects presented through a well-produced video and an informative presentation by the Executive Secretary was truly impressive. It reflects the commitment, professionalism, and strong teamwork within the Association.

The plenary, excellently moderated by John Mallia, focused on proposals aimed at regenerating Malta’s local government system. Participants also took part in five workshops covering areas that fall directly within the remit of Local Councils. These discussions highlighted that there is significant scope for councils to continue improving the quality of life within their communities through proactive leadership and effective implementation.

ANSEK welcomes these opportunities for dialogue and collaboration and remains committed to working alongside AKL and all stakeholders to strengthen local governance for the benefit of our residents.

ANSEK extends its sincere appreciation to Hon. Minister for Local Government and Public Works Alison Zerafa Civelli for meeting with the Association so early in this legislature.

We were also pleased to welcome the newly appointed Permanent Secretary,Emile Vassallo, together with Chief of Staff Frans Galea, and appreciate the opportunity to engage in a constructive discussion on the future of Local Government.

ANSEK looks forward to continuing to work closely with the Minister, Permanent Secretary, Chief of Staff, and their respective teams to further strengthen the Local Government system for the benefit of local councils and the communities we all serve.

Din il-ħatra hija riflessjoni ċara tad-dedikazzjoni tiegħu, tal-professjonalità, tal-viżjoni ċara fit-tmexxija u tal-impenn kontinwu li dejjem wera lejn is-settur tal-Gvern Lokali. Konvinti li l-esperjenza estensiva li kiseb matul is-snin fil-kariga ta’ Direttur Ġenerali se tkun ta’ benefiċċju kbir biex ikompli jmexxi ’l quddiem u jsaħħaħ is-sistema tal-Gvern Lokali f’Malta.

Following the appointment of the new Cabinet for the incoming legislature, ANSEK notes with satisfaction that Hon. Alison Zerafa Civelli has not only retained responsibility for Local Government but has also been entrusted with additional ministerial duties within Public Works.

Our collaboration with the Honourable Minister over recent years has always been constructive and positive. We have consistently experienced her commitment to her responsibilities, her respect towards local and regional councils, and her openness to dialogue in addressing sectoral needs.

We are confident that, in her new expanded role, she will continue to build on this work and contribute meaningfully to both portfolios entrusted to her.

ANSEK extends its best wishes to the Honourable Minister for success in her duties. We reaffirm our readiness to continue working closely with her Ministry, supporting wherever possible in the interest of stronger and more effective local governance.

On this Mother’s Day, ANSEK extends its heartfelt wishes to all mothers and celebrates the invaluable role they play in our families, workplaces, and communities.

Today, we pay special tribute to all Executive Secretary mothers who, every day, carry immense responsibilities with dedication and strength. Balancing the demands of council administration, leadership, and public service while remaining the pillar of their families is no easy task.

Mothers are often the heart of the home — the ones who listen, guide, support, and care endlessly for their children and loved ones. Yet many working mothers, especially Executive Secretaries, constantly face the challenge of giving their very best both at work and at home, often sacrificing their own time and rest in the process.

Your commitment, patience, resilience, and compassion do not go unnoticed. You are an inspiration not only to your families but also to your colleagues and communities.

To all mothers — thank you for everything you do.
