EASA MALTA

EASA MALTA EASA [European Architecture Students Assembly] is essentially a platform for architecture students fr www.easanetwork.org

www.easa-architecture.com

EASA is a 2-week long event, held in a different country each year, which gathers up to 500 students and young professionals from all over Europe as well as other parts of the world - but EASA is so much more that just a 2-week workshop. During the two weeks, a 500 people strong family is formed - living, eating, working, partying, sleeping, and washing together - all guided by the strong EASA Spi

rit that flows in everyone. The workshops themselves are different every year, and even in the same year they differ completely. The workshops range from media based workshops such as the long established EASA TV, EASA FM or Umbrella (EASA Newspaper) to construction workshops working with timber, concrete and more...to theory and discussion workshops to water based workshops, to projection workshops.... the possibilities are endless!

*Spacio-cide and the Architecture of Settler-Colonialism in Palestine*
Spacio-cide, a term coined by Palestinian sociologist Sari Hanafi, refers to the destruction of indigenous living space through land confiscation, settlement, home demolitions, and population transfer. Architecture serves as one of the primary tools for the realization of the spacio-cidal agenda of settler-colonial regime. This talk sheds light on the ways in which architecture has been utilized as an instrument of oppression in the context of Palestine.

Workshop Spotlight: ‘tourist’

EASA Malta Tutors: and

“In Benidorm, there are tourists, there is tourism and then there is ‘tourist’

‘tourist’: a mold, or archetype, that individuals in Benidorm may fit into.

All tourists are imperfect copies of ‘tourist’.
If you’re reading this, you are probably participating in perpetuating ‘tourist’!
We will be cataloguing, documenting, and rambling about anything and everything ‘tourist.”
