Għada wara l-ħruġ tal-purċissjoni. Narawkom 🎼
Għasri Parish's notices for this week are as follows:
- Saturday, 6 June – Feast Vigil. Confessions: from 5.30 pm to 7.00 pm, several confessors will be available for confession. A feast without confession is not a Christian feast. Let us meet Jesus in this sacrament of forgiveness so that we may fall in love with Him anew and with one another, and once again find peace in our hearts. At 6.30 pm there will be the concelebrated Mass of the Feast Eve led by His Lordship Bishop Anton Teuma, during which five children from our parish will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation and two others will receive First Holy Communion. At 7.30 pm there will be a procession with the Blessed Sacrament accompanied by the Visitation Band of Għarb. This is one of the most important moments of our feast, during which we, as a community, publicly express our faith in the Eucharist. At 8.45 pm there will be a musical programme by the Visitation Band in Salvatur Square. At 10.00 pm there will be an audiovisual feature, followed by a musical evening at the Parish Centre.
- Sunday, 7 June – Feast Day. At 9.00 am there will be a Solemn Pontifical Mass led by His Lordship Bishop Anton Teuma, Bishop of Gozo, which the whole parish is encouraged to attend. Let us show that we belong to this community by gathering together during the most important moments that shape us as a family of faith. Another Mass will be celebrated at 6.30 pm. At 7.45 pm the procession with the titular statue of Christ the Eucharistic Saviour will begin. The Grand Hymn will be sung. The procession will be led by Mons. Mikiel Mintoff and accompanied by the Visitation Band. During the procession, a musical programme by the Allegro Clefs Band will take place in Salvatur Square. At the end of the procession, the Blessed Sacrament Benediction will be given. At 10.30 pm there will be a musical evening at the Parish Centre. Throughout the feast days, the music will be under the direction of Maestro di Ca****la Ivan Attard, and sung by the parish choir “Lauda Sion”.
- Feast Charity Collection: Throughout the Feast Week we will be collecting for the diocesan Caritas. To see what Caritas currently needs, visit the parish page.
- Following Sunday, 14 June, there will be a special collection for Dar Arka. Let us help as generously as we can. Thank you.
- Every Thursday, half an hour before the evening Mass, we pray the Rosary before Jesus in the Eucharist and pray for the holiness of priests, for families, and for vocations.
- Sacred Music Concert in our Church on Thursday, 11 June at 8.00 pm “A Song to Praise” is the title of the concert which will be held in our church on the eve of the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. We hope that many from our parish will take an interest in this beautiful occasion, whose purpose is to “lift up our hearts”.
- Friday, 12 June – Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus It would be a beautiful thing for everyone to take part in Holy Mass and devote a little more time than usual to prayer. Masses will be celebrated according to the weekday schedule. This is a link to a novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus prepared by the US Roman Catholic Bishops (US will be consecreated thereto this month):https://www.usccb.org/sites/default/files/2026-02/Novena%20to%20the%20Sacred%20Heart%20Full.pdf
- English Adoration – Thursday, 11 June: This is the final adoration of this Pastoral Year and will begin, as usual, at 3.30 pm. Everyone is encouraged to attend. English Adoration coming Thursday, 11 June at 3.30 pm. This is the last adoration for this Pastoral Year. Afterwards, everyone is invited for refreshments at the parish house. Come and invite others to join you.
- Adoration. On the First Friday of the Month and every Thursday, except when the First Friday of the Month falls during that week, from 7.00am to 7.30am and from 8.00am until the evening Mass. Every Thursday, half an hour before the evening Mass, we pray the Rosary before Jesus in the Eucharist and pray for the holiness of priests, for families, and for vocations.
- We would like to remind everyone that it is possible to leave funds with the Parish to cover funeral expenses and Masses after one’s passing. These funds, known as fiduciary donations, ensure that costs are covered, taking into account that expenses will inevitably rise in the future, while also leaving an amount for Masses. A receipt will be issued detailing the agreement with the parish. Those interested should contact the Parish Priest.
- Communion for the sick (Viaticum) is given every Sunday after 8.30am's Mass.
