Canada Day 2026: A Celebration of Community and Renewed Partnerships
On Sunday, 14th June 2026, the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Macao (CanChamMacao) and The International School of Macao (TIS) hosted a record‑breaking Canada Day celebration at Studio City Macau. Under the theme "True North Splendour: Stronger Together," over 200 guests gathered to celebrate Canadian culture, community, and the enduring ties between Canada and Macau.
While our President, Dr. Howard Stribbell, was unable to join us in person, he shared a heartfelt video message that resonated deeply with everyone in attendance.
Highlights from Dr. Stribbell's Address
Dr. Stribbell opened with a warm welcome, expressing his regret at not being able to celebrate in person but extending his sincere gratitude to everyone who came out to support the chamber.
He reflected on a busy and impactful year for CanChamMacao, noting three key highlights:
A Renewed Canada-China Relationship – Dr. Stribbell shared that he had the privilege of seeing the Prime Minister in Beijing, where he witnessed first‑hand the government's renewed commitment to reestablishing relationships with China in a pragmatic and constructive way.
The Canadian Chamber of the IndoPacific – He spoke proudly of the work that has gone into forming the Canadian Chamber of the IndoPacific, a coalition of chambers across Asian nations. This initiative, he noted, has been a significant step forward in strengthening Canada's presence and influence in the region. He also shared the exciting news that the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for this coalition was signed by Prime Minister Carney – a milestone that will shape the chamber's strategic direction for years to come.
The Critical Role of Macau – Dr. Stribbell emphasised that the IndoPacific region – and China in particular – remains a key focus, and that Macau and the Canadian Chamber are well‑positioned to play a meaningful role in fostering dialogue, trade, and cultural exchange. He encouraged everyone to see the chamber as a bridge for future collaboration and growth.
A Heartfelt Thank You
Dr. Stribbell extended his appreciation to Consul General Mr. Charles Reeves and his team for their presence and support, as well as to all attendees, sponsors, and partners who made the day so special.
He closed with a special thank you to Joyce Francis, Executive Director, and her dedicated team of volunteers for their tireless work in organising such a memorable celebration.
"What a great opportunity. I wish you all the best and may you have a fantastic Sunday."
Looking Ahead
As we reflect on this year's successful event, we are reminded that being "Stronger Together" is not just a theme – it is a promise we make to one another. We are already looking forward to an even brighter Canada Day in 2027, and to the many exciting events and initiatives ahead.
Thank you once again to everyone who joined us, supported us, and helped make this celebration one for the books.
