👉 𝐋𝐞𝐭’𝐬 𝐃𝐨 𝐈𝐭 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝, global initiator of World Cleanup Day, is spotlighting TEXTILE WASTE - a growing problem with simple, everyday solutions.
🧶 𝐃𝐈𝐃 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐊𝐍𝐎𝐖?
Many clothes end up in landfills not because they’re worn out, but because we often buy more than we need - in a system that pushes us to consume fast and discard even faster.
🌪️ With new styles every week and low prices, fashion has become disposable and the planet is paying the price.
🚨 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐭 𝐁.
But we, as consumers, can make a change by shifting habits and making conscious choices.
🔁 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐛𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐲𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐝?
Fabrics made from a single fiber (like 100% cotton or polyester) are easiest to recycle.
⚠️ Blended fabrics (e.g., 60% cotton / 40% polyester) are often non-recyclable and end up in landfills.
𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐨𝐧 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐲𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐝𝐞:
Cotton – shredded and spun into new yarn
Polyester – often made from old bottles or garments
Wool – reused in insulation or felt
♻️ These can return as clothes, insulation, bags, shoes or cloths.
🌍 Here’s how you can take action:
✅ Share this post to raise awareness
✅ Look for textile recycling points near you
✅ Support brands with take-back programs
✅ Choose recyclable or recycled materials
✅ Avoid blended fabrics
🧵 Recycled materials come from post-consumer waste like old clothes, bottles, or scraps - turned into new fibers like recycled polyester, cotton or ECONYL® nylon.
