IFLA World Congress Debuts in Hong Kong: Elevating Macao’s World Heritage Landscapes to the Global Stage
A key focus of the meeting was the The 62nd International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA) World and Asia-Pacific Regional Congress 2026. Following its hosting of the Asia-Pacific Regional Congress in 1996, Hong Kong has successfully host the "World Congress" for the first time, an event encompassing 84 countries and regions. As the sole regional representative, MSLA will officially attend the congress. Both parties explored how to leverage this grand event to foster industry and academic exchanges among landscape architects in the Asia-Pacific region, promote joint research and demonstration projects among GBA cities, and elevate Macao’s unique World Cultural Heritage landscapes onto the international stage.
This exchange has deepened mutual understanding within the landscape industries of Hong Kong and Macao, laying a solid foundation for future joint participation in international affairs and the co-creation of liveable urban environments. Both sides agreed to continuously promote the sharing of professional resources, combining Hong Kong's pivotal role as a "Super Connector" with Macao's geographical advantage as "One Centre, One Platform" to jointly elevate the overall standard of landscape design in the Greater Bay Area.
