ဒေါက်တာကောင်းထက်စွမ်း သည် self-funded, non-profit organization ဖြစ်သည့် Environment, Health and Safety Myanmar (EHS Myanmar) ၏ Founder & Executive Director ဖြစ်ပါတယ်။ ဒေါက်တာစွမ်းသည် Ph.D. ပါရဂူဘွဲ့ကို Environmental and Water Resources Engineering ဖြင့် Mahidol University မှရရှိထားပြီး လက်ရှိ ထိုင်းနိုင်ငံ KMUTT တက္ကသိုလ်တွင် Senior Researcher ဖြင့်လုပ်ကိုင်နေသူ ဖြစ်ပါတယ်။ သူသည် EHS Myanmar နှင့်အတူ Environmental နှင့် Sustainable Development ဆိုင်ရာအသိပညာပေးခြင်း၊ Youth Empowerment နှင့် ရေရှည်တည်တံ့ခိုင်မြဲပြီးဖွံ့ဖြိုးတိုးတက်ခြင်းဆိုင်ရာ သုတေသနလုပ်ငန်းများတွင် (၈) နှစ်ကျော်ကြာ ဦးဆောင်လုပ်ကိုင်လျက်ရှိပြီး လူငယ်ပေါင်း (၂၅၀၀) ကျော်ကို အသိပညာဝေမျှပေးနိုင်ခဲ့ပါတယ်။ ဒါ့အပြင် လူငယ် ၅၀ ကျော်ကိုအနီးကပ် EHS Myanmar နှင့်အတူ Mentoring လုပ်ဆောင်ပေးခဲ့ပါတယ်။ သဘာဝပတ်ဝန်းကျင်ပညာရပ်ဆိုင်ရာ အသိပညာပေးဆောင်းပါးများ နှင့် နည်းပညာဆောင်းပါးများ (၂၀၀) ကျော် ကို “နိုင်ကျော်လူ” ကလောင်အမည်ဖြင့်ရေးသားနေသည့် စာရေးဆရာတစ်ယောက် ဖြစ်ပြီး ESIA နယ်ပယ်တွင်လဲ လိုင်စင်ရအတိုင်ပင်ခံအဖြစ်လုပ်ကိုင်လျက်ရှိပြီး လုပ်သက် (၉) နှစ် ကျော်အတွေ့အကြုံရှိထားသူလဲဖြစ်ပါတယ်။ ၂၀၂၃ ခုနှစ် အာဆီယံလူငယ် ပတ်ဝန်းကျင်ထိန်းသိမ်းရေးချန်ပီယံဆု (ASEAN Youth-Eco Champion Award) ကို မြန်မာနိုင်ငံကိုယ်စားပြုရရှိထား သူလဲဖြစ်ပါတယ်။ သူကျွမ်းကျင်သည့်နယ်ပယ်များမှာ Sustainability, Sustainable Development, Solid Waste Management, Environmental Engineering and Management, Air Pollution Control and Management, Policy and Governance တို့ဖြစ်ပါတယ်။

We would like to announce that Dr. Kaung Htet Swan, Founder and Executive Director of Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Myanmar will be starring as a special guest speaker. ။✨✨

Dr. Kaung Htet Swan is the Founder and Executive Director of Environment, Health and Safety Myanmar (EHS Myanmar), a self-funded non-profit organization. He holds a Ph.D. in Environmental and Water Resources Engineering from Mahidol University and is currently a Senior Researcher at King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), Thailand. For over eight years, he has led environmental and sustainable development education, youth empowerment, and water sustainability research through EHS Myanmar. During this time, he has shared knowledge with more than 2,500 young people and mentored over 50 youths. Dr. Swan is also an author who has written more than 200 environmental education and technical articles under the pen name “Naing Kyaw Lu.” In addition, he is a licensed Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) consultant with over nine years of professional experience. He is the recipient of the 2023 ASEAN Youth Eco-Champion Award for Myanmar. His areas of expertise include sustainability, sustainable development, solid waste management, environmental engineering and management, air pollution control and management, and environmental policy and governance.

On our campaign event day, Dr Kaung Htet Swan will give us a short perspective of how "Invisible Waste" creates real-world carbon emissions and the specific impact on Myanmar’s digital landscape.

ဒစ်ဂျစ်တယ်ခေတ်ကို ရောက်ရှိလာတာနဲ့အမျှ ဒစ်ဂျစ်တယ်အသုံးအဆောင်တွေဖြစ်တဲ့ မိုဘိုင်းဖုန်း ၊ လပ်တော့ အစရှိသဖြင့် အသုံးအဆောင်ပစ္စည်းတွေဟာ ကျွန်တော်တိုရဲ့နေ့စဉ်ဘဝမှာ မရှိမဖြစ် လိုအပ်တဲ့ အရာတစ်ခုဖြစ်လာပါတယ်။ ဒါအပြင့် ယခုခေတ်မှာ အလုပ်အကိုင်အပြင် သင်ကြားရေးနဲ့ဆိုင်သော လုပ်ငန်းစဉ်များကိုလည်း အွန်လိုင်းမှတစ်ဆင့် လုပ်ကိုင်မှုများရှိလာတဲ့အတွက် ဒီဂျစ်တယ်မှထွက်တဲ့ သတိမထားမိနိုင်တဲ့ မမြင်နိုင်တဲ့ အမှိုက်တွေအကြောင်း သတိပြုမိဖို့လိုအပ်ပါတယ်။

ဘာလို့ဓာတ်ပုံလေးရိုက်ရုံ ဖိုင်လ်တွေသိမ်းထားရုံနဲ့ ကာဗွန်ဒိုင်အောက်ဆိုဒ်တွေထွက်တာလဲ?
ဒီမေးခွန်းကိုဖြေဖို့အတွက် Cloud server ကလောက်ဆာဗာ လို့ခေါ်တဲ့ နေရာကနေစပြီးလေ့လာဖို့လိုပါမယ်။ ဒီနေရာတွေမှာ ကမ္ဘာပေါ်မှာရှိတဲ့ ဖုန်းတွေ ကွန်ပျူတာတွေထဲက ဓာတ်ပုံတွေ ဖိုင်လ်တွေ အစရှိတဲ့ ဒေတာတွေကို သိမ်းထားရပါတယ်။ ဒီလိုသိမ်းဖို့ဆိုတာ ကလောက်ဆာဗာ စင်တာတွေမှာ စွမ်းအင်ကုန်ကျမှုတွေရှိပါတယ်။ အဲ့လိုစွမ်းအင်တွေသုံးဖို့ရန်အတွက် လည်ပတ်တဲ့ တဲ့အခါမှာ ကာဗွန်ဒိုင်အောက်ဆိုဒ်တွေထုတ်လွှတ်ရပါတယ်။
၂၀၁၉ ခုနှစ်က ထွက်ရှိခဲ့တဲ့ “The Environmental Costs of Being Selfiesh” ဆိုတဲ့ Research အရ Selfie တစ်ပုံ Upload လုပ်တာမျိုးကဲ့သို့ ရိုးရှင်းတဲ့ လုပ်ဆောင်ချက်တွေကတောင် Carbon Emissions (ကာဗွန်ထုတ်လွှတ်မှု) ကို ဖြစ်ပေါ်စေနိုင်တယ်လို့ ဆိုပါတယ်။ အဲဒီလေ့လာမှုအရ ဓာတ်ပုံတစ်ပုံကို Upload လုပ်ဖို့အတွက် ကုန်ဆုံးသွားတဲ့ Data Transmission (အချက်အလက်ပေးပို့ခြင်း) နဲ့ Storage (သိမ်းဆည်းခြင်း) ဆိုင်ရာ စွမ်းအင်တွေကြောင့် ကာဗွန်ဒိုင်အောက်ဆိုဒ် ၅ ဂရမ်ခန့် ထွက်ရှိနိုင်တယ်လို့ ခန့်မှန်းထားပါတယ်။ Social Media Platforms တွေပေါ်မှာ နေ့စဉ် ဓာတ်ပုံပေါင်း ဘီလီယံနဲ့ချီပြီး Upload လုပ်နေကြတဲ့အခါ ပတ်ဝန်းကျင်အပေါ် သက်ရောက်မှုက သိသိသာသာကို ကြီးမားလာပါတယ်။

ဒီသက်ရောက်မှုကို လူတွေနားလည်စေဖို့အတွက် သုတေသီတွေက Digital Data တွေကို Carbon Emissions အဖြစ် ပြောင်းလဲတွက်ချက်တဲ့ “Selfie Index” ဆိုတဲ့ model တစ်ခုကို ဖန်တီးခဲ့ကြပါတယ်။ သူတို့ရဲ့ နှိုင်းယှဉ်ချက်အရ Selfie ၁၀ ပုံလောက် Upload လုပ်ရာကနေ ထွက်လာတဲ့ ကာဗွန်ဒိုင်အောက်ဆိုဒ် ပမာဏဟာ ကားတစ်စီးကို ၁ ကီလိုမီတာ မောင်းနှင်တာနဲ့ ညီမျှပြီး၊ ပျမ်းမျှ သစ်ပင်တစ်ပင်က တစ်နေ့တာ စုပ်ယူပေးနိုင်တဲ့ ကာဗွန်ဒိုင်အောက်ဆိုဒ် ပမာဏနဲ့လည်း တူညီနေပါတယ်။

ဒီဥပမာက Digital Waste တွေဟာလည်း ပတ်ဝန်းကျင်ဆိုင်ရာ အမှိုက်တွေဖြစ်တယ်ဆိုတာကို ကျွန်တော်တို့ကို သတိပေးနေပါတယ်။ အသုံးမပြုတဲ့ ဓာတ်ပုံတွေ၊ Duplicate Files ၊ Email အဟောင်းတွေနဲ့ Cloud ထဲမှာ မလိုအပ်ဘဲ သိမ်းထားတဲ့ Data တွေဟာ Data Centers တွေရဲ့ စွမ်းအင်လိုအပ်ချက်ကို မြင့်တက်စေပါတယ်။

ဒါကြောင့်လည်း Digital Cleanup Day က လူတွေကို မလိုအပ်တဲ့ File တွေ ဖျက်ပစ်ဖို့၊ Digital Storage တွေကို စနစ်တကျ ပြန်စီစဉ်ဖို့နဲ့ Digital Waste တွေကို လျှော့ချဖို့ တိုက်တွန်းနေတာ ဖြစ်ပါတယ်။ ကျွန်တော်တို့ရဲ့ Digital Spaces တွေကို ရှင်းလင်းလိုက်ခြင်းအားဖြင့် Digital Carbon Footprint ကို လျှော့ချနိုင်ပြီး ပိုမိုကျန်းမာတဲ့ ကမ္ဘာမြေဖြစ်လာဖို့ ကူညီပေးနိုင်မှာ ဖြစ်ပါတယ်။

As we enter the digital age, devices like mobile phones and laptops have become indispensable parts of our daily lives. Furthermore, since modern professional work and educational processes have moved online, it is essential to be mindful of the "invisible" digital waste that we often overlook.
Unlike the physical trash we see every day, we tend to forget to dispose of digital waste. Every time you send an email, it emits approximately 4 grams of carbon dioxide (CO₂). It is concerning to realize how much this digital waste, which harms the environment just like physical trash, is accumulating. If you add photos and large attachments to those emails, the emissions can range from 50 grams to 10 kilograms annually and this amount is only likely to increase.
Why does simply taking photos or storing files release carbon dioxide?
To answer this, we need to look at Cloud Servers. These are the places where data such as photos and files from phones and computers worldwide is stored. Operating these Cloud Server centers requires massive amounts of energy. When that energy is generated and consumed to keep the servers running and cooled, carbon dioxide is emitted.
According to a 2019 research report titled “The Environmental Costs of Being Selfiesh,” even a simple action like uploading a single selfie can generate carbon emissions. The study estimates that uploading one photo can release about 5 grams of CO₂ due to the energy required for data transmission and storage. When billions of photos are uploaded to social media platforms every day, the environmental impact becomes significantly large.
To help people visualize this impact, researchers created a model called the “Selfie Index,” which converts digital data into carbon emissions. Their comparison shows that the amount of CO₂ emitted by uploading just 10 selfies is equivalent to driving a car for 1 kilometer; it is also equal to the total amount of CO₂ an average tree can absorb in an entire day.
This example serves as a reminder that Digital Waste is indeed environmental waste. Unused photos, duplicate files, old emails, and unnecessary data stored in the cloud drive up the energy demands of data centers.
This is why Digital Cleanup Day encourages people to delete unnecessary files, organize digital storage, and reduce digital waste. By cleaning up our digital spaces, we can reduce our Digital Carbon Footprint and contribute to a healthier planet.

၂၀၂၀ ခုနှစ်ကတည်းက Let’s Do it World ကနေ ဦးဆောင်ပြီး ကျွန်တော်တို့ရဲ့ နေ့စဉ်ဘဝ Digital tools တွေမှာ အသုံးပြုနေတဲ့ Carbon footprint တွေကို လျှော့ချသန့်စင်ဖို့အတွက် Digital Clean Up day ကို စတင်ကျင်းပခဲ့တာဖြစ်ပါတယ်။ ပြီးခဲ့တဲ့ ၂၀၂၅ ခုနှစ်၊ မတ်လ ၁၅ ရက်နေ့မှာတော့ Digital Cleanup Day MM ဦးဆောင်တဲ့ Campaign မှာ Participants နဲ့ Volunteers စုစုပေါင်း ၁၈၆ ဦးနဲ့အတူ Campaign ပြုလုပ်တဲ့ တစ်ရက်အတွင်းမှာပဲ မလိုအပ်တဲ့ Gigabytes ပေါင်းများစွာကို ဖျက်သိမ်းရှင်းလင်းနိုင်ခဲ့ပါတယ်။

Since 2020, Let’s Do it World has initiated the Digital Clean Up day to spread awareness to clean up our carbon footprint we use in digital tools in our daily life. Last year on March 15, 2025 along with 186 participants and volunteers we cleaned up tons of unnecessary gigabytes within one campaign day. We are excited to announce that we will be leading this campaign again this year! To begin, we would like to start with a small quiz.

Digital Clean Up Day ဆိုတာဘာလဲ။

ကျွန်တော်တို့ သဘာဝပတ်ဝန်းကျင်မှာရှိသလိုပဲ ဒစ်ဂျစ်တယ်ကမ္ဘာထဲမှာလည်း အမှိုက်သရိုက် တွေ အများကြီးရှိနေပါတယ်။ မလိုအပ်တဲ့ အီးမေးလ်တွေ၊ ဖိုင်တွေ၊ အက်ပ်တွေ၊ ပုံတူကူးထားတဲ့ ဓာတ်ပုံနဲ့ ဗီဒီယိုတွေ စတာတွေအားလုံးဟာ ဒစ်ဂျစ်တယ်စွန့်ပစ်ပစ္စည်းတွေပဲဖြစ်ပါတယ်။

၂၀၂၄ ခုနှစ် ဒစ်ဂျစ်တယ်သန့်ရှင်းရေးနေ့ရဲ့ ရလဒ်များကို ရေတွက်နေဆဲဖြစ်ပါတယ်။ ၂၀၂၃ ခုနှစ် ဆောင်ရွက်မှုအတွက် ရလဒ်အရ နိုင်ငံနှင့် နယ်မြေပေါင်း ၁၀၅ ခုမှ ပါဝင်သူ ၃၈၀,၀၀၀ ကျော်သည် ၎င်းတို့၏စက်ပစ္စည်းများမှ GB ၁၂.၇ သန်းကို ဖယ်ရှားနိုင်ခဲ့ပြီး အနည်းဆုံး ကာဗွန်ဒိုင်အောက်ဆိုဒ် တန် ၁,၇၄၂ ၏ နှစ်စဉ်ထုတ်လုပ်မှုကို တားဆီးနိုင်ခဲ့ပါတယ်။
ထို့အပြင် ၂၀၂၄ ခုနှစ်တွင် မြန်မာနိုင်ငံ၌ ကျွန်တော်တို့ရဲ့ Digital Clean Up MM စာမျက်နှာနှင့်အတူ ပါဝင်သူ ၁၈၆ ဦး ပါဝင်ခဲ့ပြီး ပိုမိုစိမ်းလန်းသော အနာဂတ်အတွက် ထိရောက်သောကတိကဝတ်များကို ပြုခဲ့ကြပါတယ်။ လာမည့် ၂၀၂၆ ခုနှစ်၊ မတ်လ ၂၁ ရက်နေ့တွင် ကျရောက်မည့် ဒစ်ဂျစ်တယ်သန့်ရှင်းရေးဆောင်ရွက်မှုနေ့တွင် ပိုမိုသန့်ရှင်းသော ဒစ်ဂျစ်တယ်ပတ်ဝန်းကျင်ဆီသို့ ရည်မှန်းချက်ဖြင့် ဤဆောင်ရွက်မှုကို ဆက်လက်လုပ်ဆောင်သွားမည်ဖြစ်ပါတယ်။

What is digital Clean Up day?
In the digital world, just as in our natural environment, there’s a huge amount of trash. Unnecessary emails, files, apps, duplicates of photos and videos, etc., are all digital waste.
This digital trash creates digital pollution that continues to consume energy, even when we have forgotten it’s there. Each year the internet (and its supporting systems) produces 900 million tons of CO2, which is more than the annual output of the whole country of Germany!
Digital Cleanup Day is held annually on the third Saturday of March, with 2026's campaign scheduled for Saturday 21st March.
The growing concern about the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector's energy consumption and CO2 pollution created by wasteful digital practices prompted Let’s Do It World to initiate the first global Digital Cleanup Day campaign in 2020.
Since then, enough digital waste has been deleted from electronic devices to prevent the production of over 3,000 tons of CO2 a year.
Digital Cleanup Day 2024's results are still being counted. The results for 2023's campaign saw over 380,000 participants, from105 countries and territories, delete 12.7 million GB from their devices, thus preventing the annual production of at least 1,742 tons of CO2.
Also 2024 in Myanmar, together with our Digital Clean Up MM page, 186 participants participated in the campaign and made an impactful commitment to our greener future. In the upcoming Digital Clean up campaign day on March 21, 2026, we will be continuing the campaign with the goals to cleaner digital environment.
