๐Hsin Byuma (Hsinbyume) Pagoda, Myanmar
Hsin Byuma Pagoda, also known as Myatheindan Pagoda, is a unique and iconic Buddhist monument located in Mingun, near Mandalay, Myanmar. Built in 1816 by King Bagyidaw, the pagoda was dedicated to his beloved queen Hsinbyume, who passed away at a young age.
What makes Hsin Byuma Pagoda truly special is its distinctive white, wave-like terraces. These seven concentric terraces symbolize the seven mountain ranges surrounding Mount Meru, the sacred center of the Buddhist universe. At the top stands a gleaming white stupa, representing Mount Meru itself. The all-white design gives the pagoda a peaceful, pure, and almost dreamlike appearance.
Unlike traditional golden pagodas, Hsin Byumaโs architecture reflects spiritual symbolism and deep emotional meaning, blending love, loss, and devotion into its form. Today, it remains one of the most photographed and admired pagodas in Myanmar, offering visitors not only beauty but also a sense of calm and reflection.
