A new opportunity for civil society organisations!

The European Commission is inviting organisations to join the new Civil Society Platform, a permanent space for dialogue between civil society and the European Commission.

Members will share ideas and experiences, discuss challenges, follow the implementation of the EU Strategy for Civil Society, and help shape future EU policies.

The Platform is also open to organisations from EU enlargement countries, with two places reserved for organisations working in candidate and potential candidate countries.

📢 Call for Applications: EU Civil Society Platform − 2 seats reserved for the enlargement region!

The European Commission (DG JUST) has published a Call for Expression of Interest for civil society organisations to join the Civil Society Platform − a key deliverable of the 2025 EU Strategy for Civil Society.

This is a valuable opportunity to bring the region's perspective directly into the Commission's structured dialogue with civil society − and a concrete example of the gradual integration of civil society ahead of accession.

The Platform is a permanent, structured framework for regular dialogue between the EC and civil society on fundamental rights, democracy, equality and the rule of law, with agendas co-created by CSOs and the Commission. Up to 30 members will be selected for a three-year (renewable) mandate.

🌍 Who can apply?
👉 Organisations from the enlargement region (Western Balkans, Türkiye, Moldova and Ukraine): 2 of the 30 seats are explicitly reserved;
👉 Independent, non-profit organisations with at least 3 years of proven expertise in one or more priority areas: fundamental rights, democracy, rule of law, civic space, media and press freedom, equality and non-discrimination, or digital rights. (multi-country experience preferred, but not mandatory)

TACSO III project has come to an end by June 2025. This channel is now taken over by Hajde4EU, a new EU Technical Assistance Project on EU Civil Society support in the Western Balkans and Türkiye, running until December 2028.

Hajde4EU provides structured support to EU Commission (DG ENEST) and EU Delegations across the region, aimed at strengthening the role of civil society and independent media as democratic forces in their own right and as key actors in the EU enlargement process – by improving evidence, enabling reforms, and fostering participation and dialogue between CSOs, independent media, national authorities and EU institutions.
