North Macedonia embraces a refreshing and meaningful approach to winter activity this European Week of Winter Sport 2026 from February 1 to 8, through a mountain walking experience on Pelister. The 𝑮𝒐 𝑴𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑩𝒆𝒆 𝑯𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒕𝒉𝒚 activity encourages the participants to step away from busy routines and into nature, combining gentle mountaineering with environmental learning and wellbeing. The journey not only highlights the physical and mental health benefits of outdoor movement, but also introduces visitors to the fascinating world of beekeeping, showing how bees, ecosystems, and human health are deeply interconnected.

This initiative beautifully reflects EWWS values by blending sustainability, education, and active living in a calm yet inspiring setting. It proves that winter sport is not always about speed or competition, but sometimes about breathing deeply, walking mindfully, and reconnecting with the natural world. ❄️🤍

🎓 Zbogom, mama Erasmusa!

Danas, na posljednji dan ovogodišnjih Dana Erasmusa, doznali smo tužnu vijest - napustila nas je Sofia Corradi (1934.–2025.), vizionarka i profesorica pedagogije koja je osmislila program Erasmus – jedan od najvažnijih obrazovnih projekata u povijesti Europe. 💫

Kao mlada pravnica i stipendistica Fulbrighta, Corradi je 1969. godine, suočena s nepriznavanjem svoje diplome iz SAD-a, pokrenula ideju o akademskoj mobilnosti. Njezin trud rezultirao je pokretanjem programa Erasmus 1987. godine, koji je do danas omogućio više od 16 milijuna studenata da studiraju i žive u drugim europskim zemljama.

Svojim radom Sofia Corradi srušila je granice među sveučilištima i otvorila vrata obrazovanju bez granica. Bila je žena velike energije i intelektualne i emocionalne velikodušnosti, kako ju je opisala njezina obitelj.

📌 U njezinim riječima odzvanja snaga njezine vizije:

„Erasmusovi studenti dobivaju iskustvo odrastanja. Uče kako ostati na površini na vrhuncu snaga: život nije poput bazena u kojem voda miruje, život je više poput uzburkana mora. Erasmusovi studenti samostalno uče prevladavati teškoće.“

Hvala ti, Sofia, što si generacijama mladih omogućila da otkriju Europu – i sebe. 🌍💙

On November 26, 2023, Skopje Zoo lost Riste Trajkovski, a devoted 44-year-old zookeeper known for his gentle nature and unwavering commitment to the animals he loved.

For over a decade, Riste had cared for Floppy, the zoo's last giraffe, forming a deep bond that was regularly witnessed by colleagues and visitors alike.

Their relationship was described as one of mutual trust and affection, a beautiful example of the extraordinary connections possible between humans and animals.
But then something heartbreaking happened.

Just hours after Riste's sudden death, Floppy collapsed and passed away too, leaving the entire zoo community in shock and mourning.

The timing wasn't coincidental—it was a testament to the profound impact that love and compassionate caretaking can have across species.

Their story became a powerful reminder that some bonds transcend the barriers between human and animal, and that love, in its purest form, can literally be a matter of life and death.

Sometimes the greatest love stories aren't between people, but between souls who simply understood each other.
