2026 Theme: "Acting locally for global impact"

Biodiversity is the foundation of all life on Earth. Yet around the world, it is being lost at an unprecedented rate.

Biodiversity is essential to our survival as human beings:

✅ The raw materials we use every day
✅ The medicines that keep us healthy
✅ Our economic prosperity
✅ Our cultural heritage

When biodiversity declines or nature is degraded, we humans are directly affected, along with our environment and our climate.

Un dispositif qui a fait ses preuves : REPAIR, au service des familles touchées

─ Suite au passage des cyclones FYTIA et GEZANI, le programme REPAIR (Regional Emergency Preparedness and Access to Inclusive Recovery) a permis de déployer rapidement des financements d'urgence au profit des ménages les plus vulnérables.

─ RENALA, mandatée par le FID (Fonds d'Intervention pour le Développement), a eu l'honneur de contribuer à cette réponse à Mahajanga II, à travers la mise en œuvre des Transferts Monétaires Non Conditionnels Post-Catastrophes (TMNC PC) : ciblage des ménages bénéficiaires, enregistrement dans le système, formations MACC, organisation et supervision des transferts sur le terrain.

─ Nous saluons l'initiative du BNGRC, du Ministère de l'Économie et des Finances, du FID, de SOLIDIS et de l'ensemble des partenaires, qui ont permis, à travers l'atelier After Action Review des 12 et 13 mai 2026, de capitaliser sur les leçons apprises et de renforcer collectivement notre capacité de réponse face aux catastrophes.

─ Fidèle à son engagement, RENALA continue de placer la dignité, la protection et l'inclusion sociale au cœur de son action, pour qu'aucune famille ne soit laissée pour compte.

A proven mechanism : REPAIR, standing with affected families

─ Following cyclones FYTIA and GEZANI, the REPAIR programme (Regional Emergency Preparedness and Access to Inclusive Recovery) enabled the rapid deployment of emergency funding for the most vulnerable households.

─ Mandated by FID (Fonds d'Intervention pour le Développement), RENALA was proud to contribute to this response in Mahajanga II, implementing the Unconditional Post-Disaster Cash Transfers (TMNC PC) : household targeting, registration in the system, MACC training, and on-the-ground supervision of transfers.

─ We commend the BNGRC, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, FID, SOLIDIS and all partners for the After Action Review workshop (12–13 May 2026), which allowed us to learn from this experience and collectively strengthen our disaster response capacity.

─ True to its commitment, RENALA continues to place dignity, protection and social inclusion at the heart of its action, so that no family is left behind.

🤝 Signature d'un contrat de collaboration entre RENALA et Turtle Survival Alliance (TSA)

RENALA a signé un contrat de collaboration avec Turtle Survival Alliance (TSA), en qualité de structure mandatée pour l'élaboration des outils de gestion de l'Aire protégée (AP) d'Angavo (Région Androy).

La signature a été effectuée entre le Directeur Pays de TSA Madagascar et le Président de RENALA.

Trois documents cadres seront produits dans le cadre de cette mission :

— Plan d'Aménagement et de Gestion (PAG) ;
— Étude d'Impact Environnemental et Social (EIES), intégrant le Plan de Gestion Environnementale et de Sauvegarde Sociale (PGESS) ;
— Business Plan pour la pérennité de l'Aire protégée.

🌿 À propos de l'Aire protégée (AP) Angavo

Située dans les districts d'Ambovombe et d'Antanimora, l'AP Angavo s'étend sur 42 760 hectares de forêt épineuse, avec un taux d'endémisme végétal supérieur à 95%. Elle abrite également les tombeaux royaux sacrés (Kibory) du clan Andriamagnare, témoignant d'un patrimoine à la fois écologique et culturel.

Notre démarche reposera sur une approche INCLUSIVE et PARTICIPATIVE, en lien étroit avec les communautés locales, les autorités traditionnelles et les institutions concernées.

🤝 RENALA signs collaboration contract with Turtle Survival Alliance (TSA)

RENALA has signed a collaboration contract with Turtle Survival Alliance (TSA) Madagasikara, appointed as the mandated organization to develop the management tools for the Angavo Protected area (PA) (Androy Region). The contract was signed by the Country Director of TSA Madagascar and the President of RENALA.

The mission will deliver three core management documents:

— Management and Development Plan (PAG) ;
— Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA), including the Environmental Management and Social Safeguard Plan (ESMP) ;
— Business Plan to ensure the long-term sustainability of the Protected area.

🌿 About Angavo Protected area (PA)

Located in the districts of Ambovombe and Antanimora, Angavo PA covers 42,760 hectares of spiny forest and harbors over 95% plant endemism. It also shelters the sacred royal tombs (Kibory) of the Andriamagnare clan, a site where ecological and cultural heritage meet.

Our approach will be INCLUSIVE and PARTICIPATORY throughout, working closely with local communities, traditional authorities, and institutional partners.

🤝 Unis pour rebâtir : Mahajanga avance, personne n’est oublié!

─ Le cyclone FYTIA a causé d'importantes destructions à Mahajanga I et II, emportant des biens essentiels, endommageant des habitations et détruisant les sources de revenus de nombreuses communautés. Ces pertes ont plongé de nombreux ménages dans une grande vulnérabilité, les laissant sans ressources face à l'urgence.

─ Face à cette situation, RENALA, en partenariat avec le FID (Fonds d'Intervention pour le Développement), est pleinement mobilisée pour soutenir les familles les plus touchées, en plaçant au cœur de son intervention la dignité, la protection et l'inclusion sociale.

─ Notre engagement : que chaque personne, en particulier les plus vulnérables, soit accompagnée et qu'aucune ne soit laissée pour compte dans ce moment critique.
