Our team recently had the opportunity to visit the Africa Mercy in Toamasina. ✈️ ⛴

Mercy Ships has been one of MAF’s key partners in Madagascar since it first began working in the country. Taking time to visit and connect is an important part of building strong relationships and gaining a better understanding of each other’s work.

We’re grateful for the friendship, trust and shared purpose we have with the Mercy Ships team. It was a real joy to visit and spend time together! 🤝✈️

Today, we carried out a medical evacuation for a young man who had been seriously injured in a motorcycle accident in Manana Avaratra. 🏍

After being treated locally, he needed further assessment for a head injury, including a CT scan, which was not available where he was receiving care. Given his condition, travelling by air was the safest and most practical way to reach the specialised care he needed in Antananarivo. ✈🏥

We are grateful that we could play a small part in helping him reach the care he needed. ✈

Please join us in praying for his recovery and for his family and the medical teams caring for him. 🙏

Arrival of MAF in Madagascar new C182 ✈

✈️ A new aircraft joins the MAF in Madagascar family!

Today, we welcomed our new Cessna 182 (C182), flown all the way from Uganda by two familiar faces: former MAF in Madagascar pilots Arwin and Ryan. 👨🏼‍✈️

This is a valuable addition to our fleet, strengthening our ability to reach remote communities and serve people in places where access is often difficult. 🌍📍

We are grateful for this new chapter and look forward to the lives that will be touched through every flight. ✈

In remote Nosy Varika, reaching medical assistance can require long journeys by boat and road. For some families, the cost of seeking treatment elsewhere makes it almost impossible.

Another medical safari comes to an end in Nosy Varika.

For six years, this team of HoverAid volunteer doctors, a surgeon, and a dentist has returned to serve communities where healthcare can be difficult to reach. 👨‍⚕️🏥

After days of caring for patients, working through rain and little rest, the team is now heading home, leaving behind many people who received medical care.

MAF was glad to fly the team in and out, helping make the mission possible. ✈️

Hundreds of kilos of vaccines, flown up to communities in the North. 💉✈️

These aren't places you can just drive to easily; for a lot of these villages, a plane is the fastest and often the only way vaccines get there in time and in good condition.

Today, a few more communities have what they need to stay protected.

🔧 Maintenance in progress 🔄

Our three engineers are busy this week with NLD second 200-hour inspection, which also includes the additional checks required at the 400-hour inspection interval. 👨‍🔧

A round of scheduled maintenance, with detailed inspections and servicing to keep the aircraft safe and ready for the missions ahead.

A lot of important work happens behind the scenes to keep us flying. ✈️

Today we say thank you to Arwin Bos, our relief pilot who has faithfully served with MAF in Madagascar for the past 5 weeks. 🛩 Flying partners in some of Madagascar’s most isolated communities. 🌍

We are grateful for his dedication, professionalism, and commitment to serving the programme during this time. 🙏
