FCC is a Moroccan non-governmental organization founded to facilitate intercultural exchanges and Voluntary Service.

is a Moroccan non-profit, non governmental organization dedicated to youth exchange, intercultural learning, and international voluntary service. Comprising socially active Moroccan youth with extensive experience collaborating with local civic associations, FCC actively networks with non-formal University Students Clubs and youth organizations. Our primary objective is to engage them in international youth exchanges, research initiatives, and opportunities Abroad.

🌍 From learning to action | Sivas, Türkiye 🇹🇷

What happens when young people, organisations, and different experiences come together around one goal? 🤝

Our time in Sivas was more than a training. It was an opportunity to learn from real practices, exchange experiences, build connections, and explore new approaches to disaster preparedness and community resilience.

From AFAD and IHH to emergency services, the 112 Centre, the fire department, the municipality, and university learning spaces, we discovered how preparedness, coordination, training, and community action come together when people need support most.

We also worked alongside our partners to develop learning modules, share ideas, and make knowledge more accessible and engaging for young people.

💡 What are we taking home?
More knowledge. New partnerships. Practical ideas. And a stronger commitment to turning what we learned into meaningful action in our communities. 🇲🇦🤝🇹🇷

Because disaster preparedness isn't only about responding when something happens.

It starts with learning, preparing, connecting, and acting together. 🌱

🔥 DAY 3 IN SIVAS | Learning how every second can matter

By Day 3, our focus shifted to one important question: How do we turn knowledge into practical skills?

🧩 Building the learning together
With our partner organisations, we developed and improved the project’s learning modules, making them more engaging, practical, and useful. Because good training is about helping people understand, participate, and remember.

🏛️ Learning from Local Emergency Services
At the Sivas Municipality Fire Department, we learned about firefighting, search and rescue, emergency response, training, and disaster preparedness. We explored their equipment and saw how trained people, resources, and coordination help teams prepare for different situations.

🚒 We also had the opportunity to attend a practical demonstration and see how firefighters are trained to respond to fires.

📞 Inside the 112 Emergency Centre
We learned how emergency calls are received and how 112, AFAD, the fire department, and the police work together. It showed us that effective emergency response requires teamwork, communication, coordination, and trust.

🎁 We ended the day by exchanging gifts with partners and participants creating memories of friendship, collaboration, and shared learning.

💡 Our takeaway?
When a crisis happens, every role matters but coordination makes the difference.

For FCC Morocco, these experiences are helping us explore how knowledge, training, and cooperation can strengthen our community work and build more resilient communities. 🇲🇦🤝🇹🇷

🚨 DAY 2 IN SIVAS | What happens when preparation meets action?

Day 2 took us deeper into the systems, tools, and knowledge behind effective disaster management.

💻 Starting with the project itself
We began the day by discussing how we can make the project website more accessible, informative, and useful, especially for people who may need to find information or contact the right actors during a disaster.

For us, communication is also part of preparedness.

🚒 Seeing AFAD in Action
We then visited an AFAD centre where we discovered the vehicles and equipment used during different types of disasters, including earthquakes and floods.

Seeing the tools and systems up close helped us understand how preparation, specialised equipment, and trained teams come together when communities need immediate support.

🏢 Experiencing the Afet Farkındalık Eğitim Merkezi (Disaster Awareness Training Centre)
At the Afet Farkındalık Eğitim Merkezi, we went beyond theory. Through different disaster simulations and prototypes, we explored how emergencies can unfold and how people and institutions can respond to them.

🎓 Learning at CAK University
Our final stop was CAK University, where we discovered how disaster management is approached academically and how students are prepared to understand and work in the field.

The exchange gave us valuable ideas about education, training, and knowledge-sharing that could inspire future approaches in Morocco.

💡 Our takeaway from Day 2?

Disaster preparedness is not one single action.

It is a system connecting communication, education, equipment, trained people, institutions, and communities.

For FCC Morocco, every visit and exchange is a chance to ask:

What can we learn from these practices, and how can we adapt them to our own communities? 🇲🇦

Because learning from others becomes meaningful when we can turn it into better action at home. 🌱

🌍 DAY 1 IN SIVAS | What does being prepared really mean?

Our first day in Sivas, Türkiye, started with a simple but important idea: disaster preparedness begins long before a disaster happens.

📍 AFAD Centre – Sivas
We officially started the project by meeting fellow participants and partner organisations, discovering the programme ahead, and exchanging ideas about the work we would carry out together.

But the day quickly took us from discussion to real-life examples of preparedness.

📦 Inside the AFAD Warehouse
We discovered how AFAD prepares essential supplies in advance so they can be quickly mobilised when a disaster occurs. From tents and dishes to refrigerators, air-conditioning equipment, and other essential materials, everything is organised with one question in mind:

“What might people need when a disaster happens?”

🤝 Discovering IHH’s Humanitarian Work
Our next stop was IHH, where we learned more about their work in volunteering, humanitarian assistance, and supporting people in need.

At their warehouse, we saw how food, clothing, and other essential items are organised according to different needs and age groups. What stood out to us was the attention given to the people behind every form of assistance.

💡 Our takeaway from Day 1?
Effective disaster response isn't only about what happens "during" an emergency. It starts with preparation, organisation, cooperation, and understanding people's needs before they arise.

For FCC Morocco, these experiences are an opportunity to exchange practices, strengthen our knowledge, and explore how these lessons can contribute to stronger community resilience and more effective volunteer action in Morocco. 🇲🇦🇹🇷

And this was only the beginning.

🌍✈️ Exciting news from FCC Morocco

4 members of our team are heading to Sivas, Türkiye to take part in a new Erasmus+ Training Mobility, bringing together 18 representatives from 5 partner organizations across the region.
Together, we'll be working on designing a Simulation Toolkit to strengthen how youth NGOs in the MENA region prepare for and respond to disasters with a focus on earthquake and flood scenarios.

This mobility marks the start of a new Work Package aimed at turning knowledge into action equipping youth-led organizations with practical tools, realistic scenarios, and hands-on resources for real-world emergency response.

Proud to represent FCC Morocco on this journey.
