We are happy to highlight the participation of , one of our European Parliamentarians, at the International Water Resources Association ( ) XIX World Water Congress, held in Marrakech. A week marked by high-level dialogue, youth leadership, and a shared commitment to shaping a resilient global water future.

Across the sessions, water professionals emphasized the urgency of strengthening water security, governance, financing, and innovation. Discussions on the upcoming 11th World Water Forum in Riyadh reinforced the need for concrete political action to transform commitments into real solutions.

Our representative engaged in technical and policy sessions, from transboundary water cooperation to climate resilience, and innovative research on the WEFE Nexus, WASH, groundwater, smart water solutions, and flood risk management.

This contribution highlights the essential role of youth in bridging local needs with global expertise.

Congartulations to Ayend for representing the youth and advocating for real solutions at such a high level! 💧🤝🏼

🌐Regional Workshop: Pathways for Meaningful Youth Engagement in Science, Technology and Innovation, Environmental and Climate Policy Processes🌱

This week, Blaž Lipovšek, our member from Slovenia, took part in a key regional workshop empowering youth voices in environmental, climate and STI policies. The event, co-organised by UNESCO and EDEN Center, brought together young leaders from across South-East Europe to turn UN guidance on youth engagement into real, actionable steps.

➡️Day 1 opened with a strong keynote on what meaningful youth engagement actually means. Youth representatives then shared inspiring examples of their work in Environment&Climate, STI and Participatory Governance. Later, participants broke into three groups to explore the who, the where and the how of youth involvement—defining what young people need to participate with true impact. The day wrapped up with insights into how youth can engage in UNESCO’s programmes, from Biosphere Reserves to Geoparks and new youth-led initiatives.

➡️Day 2 shifted into policy mode, featuring a panel on integrating youth more effectively into national and regional environmental frameworks. Participants also contributed to shaping the Western Balkans youth perspective for COP30, adding their voice to a wider regional process.

🤝🏼Throughout the workshop, one message stood out: youth are not just participants—they are knowledge holders, innovators and essential partners in shaping the future.

Thank you to the UNESCO Regional Office in Venice for this opportunity!

This weekend, from the 15th to the 16th of November, the EYPW attended the Bled Water Forum Young Global Academy educational webinar weekend!

Thanks to and the key support of the European Water Sommelier Association, we had the honour to be invited, alongside young representatives across 39 countries, to attend the world's first global drinking-water educational weekend!

Together, we shared knowledge about drinking water, water quality, it's impact on our health, the solutions that exist and how we can transef them to the local context, as well as the overall need to achieve SDG 6.

We are immensly grateful to the BFW for the opportunity to also address the international classroom as a guest speaker. Our president highlighted the importance of youth inclusion in achieving SDG 6 on various levels and shared examples of how the youth can get involved and contribute to change on water.

We congratulate BWF on this action and we look forward to the next Bled Water Forum 2026 in June in Bled, Slovenia!

7th Meeting of the Parties to the Protocol on Water and Health

In a joint statement with Swiss Water Partnership Youth and IFMSA | International Federation of Medical Students' Associations, we called on the Parties to:
1. Institutionalise youth involvement and meaningful engagement in resilience planning and monitoring under the Protocol, including youth seats in technical and policy bodies.
2. Fund and mentor youth-led water resilience initiatives, especially in marginalised communities and vulnerable areas.
3. Ensure access to tools and training that enable youth to build capacities and act on early warning and risk reduction.

Additionally, in a side event on "Improving climate resilience of water, sanitation, hygiene and health services in humanitarian contexts, including natural disasters”, organised by Aktion gegen den Hunger | Action Against Hunger, French Water Partnership and Geneva Water Hub, a Centre of Competence on Water for Peace Magdalena Zivanovic highlighted the importance of youth inclusion and the work already done by young hashtag leaders on the ground. Thank you, Solène Pradat-Paz, for the skilled moderation and for inviting us to share our insights.

Thank you, Water Convention/Protocol on Water & Health and WHO Regional Office for Europe and the parties to the protocol for organising this important meeting and the meaningful work carried out in the past 20 years.

🌍Youth voices for COP30 💧

Last week, Lisa Oppermann represented EYPW at the Pre-COP30 Youth Strategy Workshop in
Brussels.

The event brought together youth organisations from across Europe to shape a strong, united voice ahead of COP30 in Belém.

We sincerely appreciate GCE for organising this important event and bringing together youth experts from different sectors committed to just and effective climate governance.

A special shout-out to our member Samira ,who continues to inspire us all through her active engagement as the EESC Youth Delegate to COP, representing young Europeans and ensuring that water and youth priorities remain central in global climate discussions.

She reminded us that many EU countries missed their deadline for updated Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), which shows that “the level of ambition is not there yet, and we need to keep on pushing”💪💙

Let’s keep building bridges between youth, policy, and action — because effective climate governance starts with water.

💧From the 17-18th of October the EYPW was represented at the 13th Sava Youth Parliament meeting held in Gradiška, a calm town on the Sava in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Our president Magdalena, who has been involved with the Sava Youth Parliament for many years now, was kindly invited to present EYPW and it's work. She had the opportunity to share knowledge and experience as well as to learn from her fellow water youth parliamentarians.

The Assembly took place at the Specialized and Technical High School in Gradiška. More 50 members from Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia gathered there with their teachers and mentors.

✔ The Assembly opened with a formal greeting from the school's director and teaching staff as well as the representatives of the Sa International Sava River Basin Commission Ana Marinić and Samo Grošelj.

The opening was continued by presentations led by Filip Gabriel Grosicki the president of the 12th session of the SYP and our member and SYP member Roko Šarić , followed by Magdalena's presentation about the EYPW.

The session also consisted of interactive workshops led by professionals, team-building, guided-tours of Gradiška as well as a cruise on the Sava river. 🌊

One of the highlights were, of course, the presentations of the winning teams and their videos, songs and presentations - all related to the Sava and this year's theme - Sustainable tourism on the Sava river. 🌲💧

📮The session concluded with the choosing of the new SYP Presidency: Toni Fabulić from Croatia, Sara Truden from Slovenia, Ivan Petrović from Serbia and the president Milica Borković from BiH. Congratulations!

📃The session was closed with the adoption of the updated SYP Statute and the distribution of Certificates.

We thank the SYP and the Sava Commission for the invitation and we wish the best of luck to the new Presidency and to all the members of the 13th session!🙏

💧 Strengthening Europe’s Water Resilience 💧

We are delighted to see the European Economic and Social Committee’s (EESC) Opinion on Water Resilience officially adopted!

It was an honour to contribute to the consultation process and to bring the voices, perspectives, and ideas of young water leaders into this important discussion.

The adoption of this opinion marks a vital step toward the development and implementation of the , aiming to secure sustainable, fair, and forward-looking management of our shared water resources.

As highlighted in the opinion (link in the comments): "it is imperative to improve communication on the worth and value of water."

Among the many valuable recommendations, we would like to especially highlight:

1) Mainstreaming water in all EU policy areas

2) Establishing standardised EU water stress tests to assess sectoral and regional water demand, pollutant discharge impacts, and infrastructure reliance

3) Creating an EU advisory stakeholder platform to the Water Resilience Forum

4) Introducing water consumption labels to increase awareness for both indirect and direct water use

We particularly appreciate the recognition of the vital role youth in shaping a resilient water future.

We look forward to continuing our engagement and to seeing these recommendations translated into concrete action — ensuring that Europe’s waters remain resilient for generations to come. 💦
