The Kinematics The Kinematics is a new performance collective producing 2 plays in 2016: milkwhite by Anthony Donald Kochensparger and pool (no water) by Mark Ravenhill.

Each play is a non-traditional narrative exploring the role of artists in society and the themes of addiction and violence. Both take a stance that the arts have something essential of offer us as human beings, even when the steps in creating the work can be a bit ugly. Our process in telling these stories will be highly collaborative and will seek to engage outside voices in helping to shape the

finished product. In conjunction with the public presentations of the work, we will be hosting community dialogues around the issues in the plays. These dialogues will range in size and scope from a cocktail hour with artists and audience to a community meal with a panel discussion from experts in the field. As we start to identify partners in the talk-back portions of the project, we are looking to other artists as well as representatives from organizations that work with recovering addicts or individuals coming out of violent relationships.
