💜 What a night! On October 3, our Live From the Heart gala brought together our Portland community for an unforgettable evening of moving stories, beautiful music from The Head and the Heart, and generosity in support of children facing cancer and other serious illnesses.

Thank you to everyone who made this night a beautiful one of music, generosity, and deep care. We are so filled with gratitude for everyone who shared their support so that we can show up for more kids when they need us most. Thank you.

Our Live From the Heart gala, presented by The Standard, brought together volunteers, philanthropists, business leaders, and champions for children facing serious illness on Saturday, October 3 at the Portland Art Museum.

Thank you Nicole F. Roberts and Forbes for shining a light on what happens when joy walks alongside treatment, and for underscoring the value of our JoyRx programs.

400,000 children are diagnosed with cancer annually. Music, laughter, and joy should have a permanent place at the bedside because every child deserves joy out of life.

Huge shout out to the Lavender Girls of West Linn for their 19th annual fundraiser last weekend!

The Lavender Girls started in 2009 when Jeanette Henning asked her 8-year-old 3rd grade daughters, Emily and Lauren Henning, what they should do with such an abundance of lavender growing in their yard. Jeanette had been a JoyRx Mentor for Children's Cancer Association and she and the girls were familiar with the hardships faced by children and their families when they are fighting childhood cancer. They decided to cut their lavender and sell bundles and sachets- and it blossomed from that first year to an event shared by many families.

Today, Lavender Girls of West Linn is an opportunity for the girls to lead and collaborate with each other while giving back to the community. Over the years, the group has grown to over thirty lavender girls and last year, they raised $5,111 for CCA which makes a grand total of $44,859 over the past 19 years!

We are so grateful for the leadership and generosity of spirit that these incredible young women share in support of JoyRx programs. Thank you!

We are grateful for the incredible champions who comprise our Board of Directors, and our Leadership Councils in Austin, New York and the Pacific Northwest. They each bring their own inspiring "why" to their volunteerism and dedicated leadership.

This year, we recognized Sarah Lee Marshall with our 2026 Purple Torch Award, representing our highest honor for special supporters and champions of JoyRx programs. Sarah's connection to our mission began long before she ever met the organization, and her leadership continues to help us grow.

Lived experiences guided how we were founded, and will continue to guide our growth.

Today, we're shining a light on Allison Wolfe, a member of our Austin Leadership Council, who recently wrote about her experiences in 'Greet Northwest Hills' - offering a glimpse into the people, connections and moments that matter most during childhood cancer.

Thank you, Allison, for your leadership, and for trusting us to be part Ford's journey. We are honored to be part of your story.

For 20 years, the Alexandra Ellis Caring Cabin has given families facing childhood cancer a place to pause, reconnect, and make memories together. 💜

During Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, we’re honoring two decades of the Cabin—and the hundreds of families who have filled it with laughter, love, and moments they’ll carry with them.

Thank you AM Extra for welcoming Noemi and Jack to the studio this morning to talk about JoyRx programs! And yes - right after this segment we had a lot of fun pretending to report the weather on the green screen. :)
