As summer comes to a close, we are reflecting on our beautiful Birthwerq retreat/training this August 💜 We are filled with gratitude and love for our community of Lifewerqers, teachers and cooks who gathered to build community and care skills around pregnancy, birth, postpartum, infant feeding, abortion and loss, conception and fertility, HRT and gender affirming surgery. Thank you to our teachers and cooks — Ganesha, Ekua, rowan, DJ, Jazzy, Ale, Amaryah, Nadia and Azul 🌟

Acudetox/Acuwellness
Acu-Wellness, also known as Acudetox, is a community-rooted approach to healing that emerged in the early 1970s through collaborative organizing between the Black Panther Party and the Young Lords. Developed in response to the urgent need for accessible, culturally grounded care, this model was created to support communities experiencing stress, trauma, substance use challenges, and systemic harm. Today, it continues to be used worldwide as a simple, effective practice for collective healing and solidarity.
Participants commonly report:
* Increased calmness and improved sleep
* Reduced stress, anxiety, and emotional overwhelm
* Greater ease engaging in counseling or support services
* A renewed sense of inner quiet, clarity, and strength

Applications are open for our 2026 In-Person Birthwerq Training by and for 2-Spirit, Trans & GNC BIPOC: Life Springs!

Gain knowledge and build care skills around pregnancy, birth as ceremony, postpartum, infant feeding, abortion, conception & fertility, miscarriage & loss, reproductive health, gender-affirming surgery recovery, navigating HRT, medical advocacy, disability justice and more!

This training is open to 2-Spirit, Trans & GNC BIPOC at no-cost to participants, with lodging and meals included. It is a 6-day retreat-style training August 15-20th in Tacoma, Washington. Our COVID precautions include daily rapid testing, HEPA air filters, herbal immune supports, antiviral nasal spray/swabs, CPC mouthwash and high-quality filtration masks are required and provided. We have limited spots available, and applications are open until June 21st.

Creating a safe and informed space for 2-Spirit, Trans & Gender non-conforming Black, Indigenous People of Color to learn about our bodies, explore the many ways we birth, and support our communities!
