Dear Riga Toastmasters and our friends!
Our Toastmasters meeting on 6th of May was a marathon of laughter, learning, and a sprinkle of chaos, all under the mesmerizing guidance of our Toastmaster of the evening, Maria. With a theme centered around marathons, we were all set to sprint through speeches, evaluations, and table topics that left us breathless—mostly from laughter!
Maria kicked off the evening with her usual flair, reminding us that marathons are not just about running long distances but also about enduring long speeches. And speeches did we have! First up was Henrik, who delivered a speech titled “How I Found the Bomb”. His storytelling was so captivating that we were all on the edge of our seats, half-expecting a real bomb squad to show up. Next, Erjon took the stage with his speech about the Tower of Babel and the complexities of languages in his own family. Ilze then stepped in to educate us on the election of the club's executive committee.
Jolanta took the reins for the table topics session, where she challenged members to speak on various marathon-related prompts. In a surprising twist, Erjon snagged the title of Best Table Topics Speaker. Finally, Ignas took home the title of Best Evaluator for his insightful and humorous feedback.
As the evening wrapped up, Maria reminded us that whether we’re running marathons or just running late to meetings, the key is to enjoy the journey. So, until next time, keep your sneakers ready and your speeches mesmerizing!

Dear Riga Toastmasters and our friends! In a galaxy not so far away, our Toastmasters meeting took place under the whimsical theme of "May the 4th be with you!" This gathering was a delightful blend of Star Wars references and a sprinkle of Latvian independence, proving that the Force is strong with our club.
Ilze, our fearless Toastmaster, kicked off the meeting, reminding us that even Jedi Masters have to start somewhere. She set the tone for the evening, encouraging everyone to channel their inner Yoda while sharing their thoughts and stories.
First up was Karlis, who bravely embarked on his first speech project titled "Until You Can Fly Forever." He shared his journey of overcoming obstacles—much like a young Anakin Skywalker learning to pilot a podracer. His speech was filled with humor and heart, leaving us all wondering if he might just be the chosen one of our club.
Next, Adrian took the stage as our Table Topics (TT) Master, armed with a collection of Star Wars figurines that would make even the most seasoned collector green with envy. He challenged us to speak on various topics related to the galaxy far, far away. Ilze, in a surprising twist, emerged as the best TT speaker of the night. She shared a powerful story about rising from failure and reminded us that even the greatest heroes stumble, but it’s how we rise that defines us.
As the meeting drew to a close, we all felt a little more connected—not just to each other, but to the spirit of independence that Latvia celebrates.
May the 4th be with you, always!🇱🇻

Dear Riga Toastmasters and our friends! Last Wednesday’s Toastmasters meeting was a delightful blend of laughter, learning, and a sprinkle of friendly competition, all wrapped up in the theme of "Quiz Night." Our fearless Toastmaster of the evening, Henrik, kicked things off with a quiz about Toastmasters
Our first speaker, Krishna, took us on a whimsical journey through time travel. Since it was the Ice-breaker speech, we gave Krishna standing ovations and an award. Next speaker was Marija, who tackled the topic of haphazard communication styles. She reminded us that sometimes, the best way to communicate is to just embrace the chaos.
Rihard, our Table Topics Master, took the stage with a pop culture theme that had us all reminiscing about our favorite movies, songs, and memes. The spotlight shone brightly on Mihails and Karlis, who emerged as the best table topic speakers of the evening.
As the meeting drew to a close, we turned our attention to the evaluators. Mihails and Ignas stepped up to the plate, providing insightful and constructive feedback that left us all feeling inspired. Their evaluations were not just critiques; they were masterclasses in how to improve and grow as speakers. We might need to start charging admission for their sessions!
So here’s to Henrik for his quizmaster skills, to Krishna and Marija for their engaging speeches, to Rihard for his pop culture prowess, and to Mihails and Karlis for their table topic brilliance. And let’s not forget Mihails and Ignas for their stellar evaluations. Until next time, may your speeches be as entertaining as a quiz night and your communication as clear as a well-timed punchline! Cheers! 🥂

Dear Rīga Toastmasters and our friends! Our meeting on the 1st of April was very special! It was about speaking up and laughing out loud! And that's what we did!
Our fearless Toastmaster of the Day Teodora set the tone with a warm welcome and a reminder that laughter is indeed the best medicine.
Next up was Ilze, who took us on a hilarious journey through laughter yoga. With her catchy energy, Ilze had us stretching our bodies and our funny bones. She led us through a series of exercises that included everything from “the funny mobile phone” to “the crazy scientist.”
Following the laughter yoga session, Rihards took the stage for the table topics segment. He had prepared a series of amusing prompts that challenged our members to think on their feet while keeping the laughs rolling.
Among the many brave souls who took on the table topics challenge, Jolanta emerged as the star of the evening and won the Best Table Topics Speaker award. Her quick wit and charming delivery had the audience in stitches.
As we transitioned to the final segment of the meeting, we took a moment to celebrate the 14th birthday of our club. It’s hard to believe that 14 years ago, a group of enthusiastic people came together with a shared passion for public speaking and personal growth. A special cake was brought out, adorned with candles.
This meeting was a beautiful reminder that laughter is not just an act; it’s a way of life. Thank you to everyone who participated and made it a memorable occasion. Until next time, keep laughing and keep growing!

Dear Rīga Toastmasters and our friends!
"Social Capital" themed meeting was a resounding success, filled with laughter, learning, and a sense of community. Maria, our ever-enthusiastic Toastmaster of the evening, led us through a whirlwind of speeches, laughter, and a few awkward pauses that could rival a sitcom.
Next up was the long-awaited session on speech preparation. Now, when we say “long,” we mean it could have been a feature film. Ignas encouraged everyone to share their best tips, and boy, did we get an earful!
With Rihards as the Table Topics Master, the evening was packed with impromptu hilarity, and Teodora emerged as the best table topics speaker, proving once again that she can charm a room even when winging it.
This meeting reminded us that while building relationships can sometimes feel daunting, a good sense of humor can break down barriers and create lasting connections. Here’s to more meetings filled with laughter and the joy of social capital!
Thank you for joining us in this meeting! We look forward to seeing you at our next meeting, where we’ll explore another theme—hopefully with just as much laughter!

Dear Riga Toastmasters and our friends! The meeting kicked off with our charismatic Toastmaster of the Day Marija, who, in a bid to set the tone, shared a story about their own rehearsal gone wrong. This set the stage for a meeting filled with humor and camaraderie.
Next up were the prepared speeches, where Marija shared her insights about lessons learned in leading a team.
The Table Topics session, lead by Teodora, was a highlight of the evening, where members were called upon to speak on random topics . Our guest Dmitrijs stole the hearts of the audience with his story how to tame an angry fridge, and was rewarded with award for the best Table Topics Speaker!
In conclusion, this Toastmasters meeting was a delightful blend of learning and laughter. It showcased the power of humor in public speaking and the importance of embracing our mistakes. After all, if we can’t laugh at ourselves, what’s the point of rehearsing? Here’s to more meetings filled with laughter, camaraderie, and, of course, plenty of rehearsals!

We are not telling anyone that Latvia has most olympic athletes per 1 million of population, but there are signs -like our Toastmasters meeting on 4th of February!
Our meeting kicked off with the word of the day – electrifying! And meeting was electrifying, indeed! The Toastmaster Ilze attempted to set the stage with an inspiring speech what similiarities are there between Olympic Games and Toastmasters. Henrik presented his prepared speech “What happens in village, stays in village”. We can say that a lot happened in the speech and in that village, but you have to come visit us next time to get all the juicy details😉
Over the course of the evening different Olympic sports were discussed, like figure skating and ski-jumping, but most popular sport was deffinitely curling! It transpired also during Table Topics session lead by Rihards, clearly fueled by caffeine and a desire to inflict maximum comedic damage, presented us with a series of Olympic-themed questions! Our guest Erika delivered a heart-felt speech about curling and took home award for the best Table Topics Speaker!
The evaluations were insightful. The evaluators offered constructive criticism with a generous helping of humor. They praised the speakers' creativity and enthusiasm, while gently pointing out areas for improvement.
Until next time, may your speeches be smooth, your jokes be funny, and your winter be filled with warmth (and maybe just a little bit of frostbite)! And fingers crossed for our Olympic Teams!

Lights, Camera, Toastmasters! Our Riga Toastmasters meeting centered around the theme of movies. It covered the highlights of a prepared speech and the spontaneous hilarity of a movie-themed table topics session, capturing the wit, awkwardness, and overall entertainment value of the evening.
Toastmaster of the Evening Rihards set the stage. We had plot twists, unexpected cameos, and maybe even a few Oscar-worthy moments (of laughter, at least). Our newest member Teodora delivered a breath-taking ice-breaker speech and was rewarded with standing ovations and inspiring ribbon.
Rihards was also Table Topics master, and invited everyone to improvise about different un-expected topics about movies. Our guest Erika was invincible and brought home award for the Best Table Topics speaker!
Overall, it was a successful and entertaining Toastmasters meeting. Thank you everyone for performing their roles! We laughed, we learned, and we left feeling slightly more confident in our ability to speak in public! And that, my friends, is the magic of Toastmasters!
