Last month, we released Empower Educators 03, the latest publication in New East’s Media Lab series.

This practical guide is designed for adult educators, trainers, librarians and community workers. Its six modules explore information and source verification, visual manipulation, AI literacy, digital safety, digital learning tools and inclusive learning.

Inside, you’ll find warm-up activities, practical exercises and reflection questions to adapt for your own groups and workshops. The guide draws on New East’s work in adult education and the learning experiences gained through the Erasmus+ project Media Resilience.

The publication is available in Latvian in our online library. Explore it, use it in your sessions and share it with colleagues!

A few moments from Existential Services 💜

We’re sharing some atmospheric photos from the performance by Mafalda Garcia, presented as part of Rīgas ielas svētki in Daugavpils.

A big thank you to everyone who stepped into our improvised “government office” and shared their thoughts on love — as an emotion, a relationship, a choice, and a part of life.

The Europe Challenge is a programme initiated by the European Cultural Foundation. It brings together libraries and communities to address Europe's key transitions—social, digital, and green—by implementing creative solutions in their local areas. The 2025/26 edition is kindly supported by public funding through Arts Council England, Fondazione Cariplo, and the Scottish Library and Information Council.

The first day of the international event BEACON OF HOPE: crisis simulation game 💙

During the event, young people from across the Baltics explored the challenges of building community resilience together. Through a multifaceted exercise, the participants learned from one another and from invited experts about a practical mindset for a more secure and sustainable future.

The project Baltic Youth Resilience — BEACON of Hope is implemented by the National Centre of Defence & Security Awareness (Estonia), New East (Latvia) and House of Europe (Lithuania), with support from the German Embassy in Estonia.
