CASK Luxembourg asbl CASK Luxembourg a été fondé afin de sensibiliser les gens sur les maladies génétiques rares, et surtout sur la maladie génétique CASK.

L'association a aussi été fondée afin de récolter des dons pour faire avancer la recherche.

Le 28 février c'est la journée internationale des maladies rares.
Au Luxembourg environ 30.000 personnes sont touchées.
C'est un parcours du combattant, depuis le diagnostic (qui peut durer des anneés) jusqu'au soutien et suivi médical.

Last week PhD student Anya Charman-Jones presented CASK to hundreds of clinicians at the British Paediatric Neurological Association conference.

Anya shared findings from her MSc research, completed under the supervision of James Hodge and Prof Sam Amin at the University of Bristol, demonstrating the value of Drosophila (fly) models in advancing our understanding of genetic neurological disorders. Her work showed that CASK-deficient flies exhibit sleep disruption, movement abnormalities and seizure activity - closely mirroring key symptoms seen in individuals with CASK-related disorders.

This was an important opportunity to highlight to a clinical audience that foundational laboratory research, which can sometimes feel far removed from patient care, plays a critical role in defining phenotypes and informing translational pathways. Bridging basic science and clinical insight is essential if we are to improve understanding and, ultimately, outcomes for patients with rare neurological conditions.

We are grateful to the BPNA for once again giving CASK disorders a platform at this important conference.
