Sunday, March 29 — Family, fellow service members, and community members gathered Sunday afternoon at American Legion Post 383 as Commander Gary Pruss and the Post Honor Guard conducted a solemn flag ceremony honoring SFC Brice Travis.
Prompted after the American flag at Brice’s mother, Terri Blodgett’s, home was damaged in a recent house fire, the ceremony at 3:00 p.m. followed military ritual as the worn flag was retired with dignity and replaced by a new one.
Travis — a Bronze Star recipient and Army Ranger who deployed multiple times to Afghanistan and Iraq — was remembered for his courage on the front lines and his steadfast commitment to his fellow soldiers. “We hold SFC Brice Travis dear because he was a frontline security bastion whose service will live with us as veterans who answered the priceless call of duty in support of our work as soldiers,” said Lloyd Roosa.
Terri Blodgett addressed those gathered with quiet gratitude: “Thank you all so much. You are all such a blessing in my life.”
Marked by sanctity and patriotism, the ceremony honored Travis’s service and sacrifice. Gold Star recognitions and remembrances underscored the cost of service and the community’s support for the family.
After the ceremony, Commander Pruss invited Ms. Blodgett into the Post and presented her with a flag display box donated by American Legion members from Old Town, Florida.
A mother’s love for her son in uniform is fierce and unwavering; though he is gone, her pride and memory prevails.
