The Embassy of Ukraine to Belgium and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg has raised concern over the planned performance of russian opera singer Anna Netrebko at the Philharmonie Luxembourg on 15 June 2026.

For many years, the russian federation has relied on culture as a means of influence and international image-building. While russia continues its war against Ukraine, events featuring well-known figures linked to the russian cultural establishment cannot be separated from this wider reality.

The Embassy has communicated its position to the relevant authorities and called attention to the ethical and reputational concerns surrounding the event.

Yesterday, within the framework of Advocacy Coalition 2026-2027 and UA Days in Luxembourg, Art & Poetry Talk in Time of War took place at Cercle Cité.

The event brought together artists, writers, curators, cultural professionals, diplomats, partners, and friends of Ukraine from across Europe for a conversation on the role of culture in times of war.

At the heart of the discussion were questions of memory, identity, resilience, and international understanding. Through the perspectives of cinema, literature, curatorial practice, and cultural production, the speakers reflected on how art responds to war, preserves human stories, and helps keep the Ukrainian voice visible on the international stage.

The discussion featured Iryna Tsilyk , Irena Karpa, Marion Guth , Marta Czyż, and Radek Lipka. The evening concluded with poetry readings by Luxembourgish poet Philippe Schockweiler .

We sincerely thank all speakers, partners, organisers, diplomatic representatives, and guests for their presence, openness, and contribution to this important dialogue.

The event was organised in partnership with a_BAHN and Cercle Cité .

💙 We are continuing to actively develop our Youth Club project dedicated to the mental and emotional support of Ukrainian teenagers in Luxembourg.

Over the past weeks, the project coordinators visited two schools — LAM - Lycée des Arts et Métiers and École internationale Gaston Thorn — to meet Ukrainian students, present the project, and introduce the activities planned for participants. Teenagers had the opportunity to get to know the initiative in an informal atmosphere, enjoy snacks, and take part in a small test-drive of some of the activities prepared within the Youth Club.

At the same time, parents were able to learn more about the project, its goals and opportunities, as well as discuss important topics with our practicing psychologists.

We would also like to remind you that a Youth Club for Ukrainian teenagers is already actively running at Lycée Technique du Centre every Thursday at 14:15.

We sincerely thank André Losch Fondation for supporting this important initiative.

We are also grateful to all students and parents for their trust and interest in the project, as well as to the staff of the schools for their support in organising these meetings.

This Saturday, Ukrainian School Mriya celebrated Vyshyvanka Day ❤️

Students learned about the history of the Ukrainian vyshyvanka, created traditional ornament patterns, and joined songs, dances, and a fun flashmob together with animators who visited the school.

A special part of the celebration was a small exhibition of vintage vyshyvankas. Children and parents could see authentic embroidered shirts, including a more than 100-year-old vyshyvanka from the Poltava region.

We sincerely thank the coordinators, teachers, and leadership of “Mriya” school for organising this beautiful celebration, as well as Ministère de l'Éducation nationale, de l'Enfance et de la Jeunesse and Lycée technique du Centre for supporting our educational project.
