The Luxembourg Daddy Group started in March 2017 to offer something different than most of the parent (and mothers’) social media groups were offering. More fathers are taking time off, in part due to the new parental leave reform in Luxembourg which took effect in December 2016.
The group, which now has over 900 members, held its first event on 21 May 2017 and the second one on 16 July 2017 (at the Parc de Merl), bringing together for each event around 30 dads and their kids. A play tent with plastic balls for the children was available for these events. Kids were playing together and daddies were socializing, exchanging their experience and stories of being a new dad. After the success of these two editions, The Luxembourg Daddy Group ogranised in total 8 differents events in 2017, with the 1st excursion planned on 3 September 2017 at the Parc Merveilleux. Other originals events were planned such as “the 1st Luxembourg Daddy Chillout Session // Summer Lounge” in 4 August 2017 at the Museum Dräi Eechelen in the park area. The planning was including a picnic, music and drinks in front of an amazing view of Luxembourg with all the daddies. The sunset was just on time to seduce the new expats daddies arrived in Luxembourg. Our aim is to connect daddies together, organise fun activites with the kids and enjoy special moments all together.
In 2018, the Luxembourg Daddy Group is organising more and more events such as barbecues, playground activities at ZigZag in Bertrange, Afterwork at the museum Mudam and planning new ideas for 2019. In January 2019, one the first Meetup will be organise at the Snowhall indoor ski at Amneville to prepare the kids to the winter holidays with a first initiation to ski and having also fun with sleds.
Any dad is welcome to join the group’s page (the page also explains the group’s vetting rules) to keep up to date on future events, many of which happen on an informal basis.
