Luxembourg distributed a unique children’s book to schools across Directorates 15 and 16 in northern Luxembourg.

Created for pupils aged 10–12, the book introduces the topic of mental health in a fun, engaging, and age-appropriate way. What makes this project particularly special is that the story was developed together with pupils from a school in Wincrange, whose ideas and creativity helped shape the final publication.

To support teachers, the project also includes dedicated educational materials with classroom activities, discussion topics, and practical guidance for addressing mental wellbeing with young learners.

The initiative has already reached 30 schools and 5 libraries in northern Luxembourg, helping bring important conversations about mental health into classrooms and communities.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in making this project possible, especially the students, teachers, author Anja Di Bartolomeo, and the volunteers who helped bring the book to schools.

Finally Home! Already?!

And just like that, the week was over.

We’re sitting on the bus heading home. Most people have already fallen asleep. After 7 days on the water, 7 days in the fresh air and with a full program, but above all 7 short nights, eventually the exhaustion catches up with you.

It’s a strange feeling, a mix of excitement about seeing our loved ones again and sadness that this wonderful time has come to an end.

Those who have already experienced it know that after a week at Voiles de l’Espoir, there’s a risk of falling into a void. Back to normal. Back to life. Everyday routines return quickly, but in our minds we’re still on the boat, and above all, still thinking about the children.

Children who, less than a year ago in some cases, were lying in a hospital bed. Stage 4 cancer. And six months later, sailing along the Cîte d’Azur with huge smiles on their faces.

We took them to Voiles de l’Espoir. We give hope. And they teach us a very important lesson: to enjoy life, no matter what comes.

Agathe, Arthur, Caroline, Constance, Louis, Matthieu, Milana, Tun: we hope you will remember this week for a very long time. You may not even realize it, but you are little heroes.

Thank you for everything. ❀

Slowly, things are becoming emotional.

After a long day in Monaco, we spent most of today on the boat. We sailed to Île Sainte-Marguerite, just opposite Cannes.

There, we took part in a treasure hunt and later spent the evening together on the boat.

A lot of time on the boat means a lot of time with the children. And the children have built trust. They share so much with us about their families, their experiences, and also about their illness.

Often, they talk about these things among themselves, because they know that each of them has been through a lot.

And when they realized that this would be their last evening on the boat with the team, a few tears were shed.

We still have one day left. There will be a closing celebration, and then it will be time to get back on the bus and begin the journey home.

For now, we are making the most of the beautiful weather, the sunshine, and the sea and of the precious time we still have together here.

See you tomorrow! ❀

Monaco!
What a day

This morning, the children were brought ashore in Villefranche.
After a small breakfast, they boarded a police-escorted bus from Villefranche to Monaco.

The day began with a visit to the state center, followed by the changing of the guard. The next highlight was a tour with the Automobile Club of Monaco around the Formula 1 circuit—just a few days after the Grand Prix itself.

Afterwards, they visited the Oceanographic Museum and Aquarium before returning to the boats. In the meantime, the boats had been moored at the legendary Yacht Club de Monaco. Entering the harbor was a very special experience even for the adults who had transferred the boats there.
To round off the day, the Yacht Club hosted a celebration and dinner.
A day in which they experienced more than many people do during an entire vacation

The children simply cannot stop marveling at everything they have seen and done. What incredible experiences for our little heroes!
Now the journey is slowly turning back toward home port. But the adventure is not over yet.

See you tomorrow!

This morning we woke up and everyone was wondering how we could possibly top last night.

After enjoying chocolate, pancakes, and croissants, we then spent nearly three hours sailing along Cap d’Antibes and through the Bay of Villefranche.

Cooking, eating, swimming—and just like that, the afternoon was over. Time for the next themed evening: La Magie des Voiles (“The Magic of the Sails”).

An evening for our Harry Potters, fairies, and wizards in the Citadel of Villefranche, featuring a surprise performance by the winner of The Voice Kids France and a spectacular fireworks display.

Tomorrow we’re heading to Monaco. And what that means for the children is probably something they don’t fully realize yet
 ;)
