Who said learning about money was boring? To mark 1 June, International Children’s Day celebrated in many parts of the world, we transformed financial education into a fun and engaging experience. Through our Play4FinancialSkills board game, the children became young decision-makers, entrepreneurs, savers, and investors for a day.
The competition was fierce and the questions showed just how curious and thoughtful young minds can be when it comes to money.

After earning and managing their capital throughout the game, the children faced a real-life challenge: how would they divide their money between Education, Wishes, Current Expenses, Donations and Savings?

Their choices revealed something inspiring — many already have a strong understanding of the value of money and the decisions that come with earning and spending it. By observing the world around them, from family conversations to everyday experiences, they are constantly absorbing lessons that shape their financial mindset.

At Play4FinancialSkills, financial literacy comes to life through stories, teamwork, strategy and fun, helping children build skills that will stay with them for years to come.

Many young people are aware of the challenges around them, but often lack the tools, confidence, and opportunities to take action.

This is exactly the gap that the Empowering Young Changemakers project aims to bridge.
As Elena Vasilica, President of L’École des Valeurs L’École and initiator of the project, explains, the initiative was created to support young people in their transition from passive observers to engaged and proactive changemakers.

Bringing together participants from Luxembourg and Romania, the project created a unique learning environment where different realities and perspectives became opportunities for growth and civic engagement.

Last week, the FinEdu project partners gathered in Genoa, Italy 🇮🇹 for several days of collaboration, planning, and strategic reflection on the future of the project.

During the meeting, we reviewed the current stage of implementation and openly discussed what is working well, the challenges we are facing, and the priorities for the months ahead. We also prepared the interim reporting process and shared responsibilities among partners.

A central focus of the meeting was the development of the FinEdu e-learning platform. We worked both on the technical and structural aspects of the platform, as well as on the user experience — keeping in mind the teenagers who will engage with the program. These discussions helped us shape a more ambitious and meaningful direction for the platform.

We also revisited the project’s impact evaluation plan, discussing how we can measure the real changes the program creates for young people. At the same time, each partner organization outlined concrete steps for promoting the project within their local communities.

Beyond planning and implementation, the meeting also gave us the opportunity to strengthen the relationships between partners — because European projects are built through collaboration, trust, and a shared vision. 🤝

A big thank you to all partners for their energy, openness, and contribution throughout the week. We are already looking forward to our next meeting in Luxembourg!

We’re happy to remind you of the webinar hosted by our partner in the FinEdu Project, Scoala de Valori:
“Smart Money Talks: Real Conversations Shaping the Financial Future of Young People.”

At L’École des Valeurs, we strongly believe that empowering young people with the right financial mindset is key to helping them build a confident and sustainable future. This webinar brought together experts and practitioners who shared valuable insights on financial education and practical tools that support youth in turning their dreams into reality.

🎤 Highlights from the speakers:
🔹 Francesca Mazzieri, Head of Education at JA Italy, emphasized the importance of adapting financial education to each stage of a student’s development—starting early and evolving with their needs and interests.
🔹 Silvia Bogdan, President of Școala de Valori, highlighted the power of small, consistent habits: learning to save before spending is a cornerstone of long-term financial stability.
🔹 Elena-Mădălina Duminică from European School of Brussels IV reminded us that financial education starts with a dream—and serves as a compass to help young people navigate life’s uncertainties with confidence and purpose.
🔹 Mihaela Mercier, representing ALFI, underlined the importance of starting early, using time as an ally, and building a solid financial safety net before investing.
🔹 Daniel Eid from European Commission highlighted that financial literacy is ultimately about empowerment—helping young people make informed decisions and actively participate in society.

🌍 This initiative is part of Global Money Week and the Erasmus+ FinEdu Project, both dedicated to promoting financial education among young people.
