🌍 Today at Empower to Employ: exploring a sector and building a network.

Today's two sessions with Matthew De Cae, Job Coach and HR Expert who has supported over 500 job seekers, brought our participants together for a practical look at hospitality and at how professional connections work in Luxembourg.

🏨 Hospitality: Definition and Sub-Industries
We explored how the sector is structured, which career paths it offers, which skills matter across its segments, and which trends and key players shape the market.

🤝 Building Social Capital in Luxembourg
We talked about why trust and relationships matter for long-term career growth, and which networking strategies work in practice.

💡 The second cycle of the LUCC Advisory Platform helped identify specific areas for cooperation between Luxembourg and Ukraine and establish contacts to develop them further.

Six committee meetings took place throughout September and in early October. Representatives of businesses, the financial sector, public institutions and international organisations discussed the conditions needed to develop joint projects: market access, financing, regulatory requirements and finding partners.

The discussions outlined several promising areas for cooperation. In finance, these included preparing reconstruction projects to attract capital and using risk-sharing instruments. In business and industry, the focus was on access to European markets and opportunities for joint production. In defence technology, participants explored how Ukraine’s development expertise could be combined with European certification and production capacity.

Cooperation between institutions was another key focus. The healthcare meeting highlighted the value of Ukrainian expertise for professional exchange, training and joint initiatives. Participants began discussing potential partnerships during the meeting itself 🤝 .

The second cycle resulted in direct contacts between potential partners, shared interests and a clearer understanding of the next steps. This provides a foundation for further work on specific initiatives.

🚀 This is the practical value of the Luxembourg-Ukraine Chamber of Commerce (LUCC) Advisory Platform: bringing together relevant expertise and helping participants move from an interest in cooperation to concrete discussions about working together.

We thank our speakers, moderators and participants for their professional contributions to the second cycle. Your experience, questions and proposals help shape the agenda for future meetings.

The third cycle will take place from 24 November to 3 December 2026. Six committee meetings will continue the work on governance and market access, energy and infrastructure, finance, defence and technology, business, and institutional partnerships.

We invite representatives of companies and institutions to join us, share their expertise, present their priorities and discuss opportunities to work together.

Today, Empower to Employ participants explored how to approach workplace conflicts more calmly, constructively and effectively.

During the workshop, Oksana Albul, Psychologist with over 15 years of professional experience, shared practical approaches to:
🔹 understand what causes workplace conflicts
🧘 stay calm and regulate emotions in challenging situations
💬 communicate effectively when tensions arise
🔄 explore strategies for resolving conflicts
🗣️ approach difficult conversations with greater confidence

Why Does This Topic Matter to You?

Starting a career means gaining experience, developing skills and finding your place in the labour market. AI brings new opportunities and questions.

💬 How can AI help you get your first job? How are young workers’ tasks changing? What skills will you need? And how can technology create fair opportunities for young people?

Why Does Your Experience Matter?

You will have the opportunity to share your views directly with the Executive Vice-President. The Commission wants to hear from people with different backgrounds and experiences. Whether you use AI daily or rarely, your perspective can add to the discussion.

The outcomes will contribute to the Commission’s wider work on AI and the future of the labour market.

Who Can Apply?

Young people who:

• are 18–30 years old;
• have never participated in a Youth Policy Dialogue;
• are available to travel to Brussels and stay for one night;
• have sufficient English to take part in the discussion.
