Winners & Country Winners 2026 World Beer Awards
There are nuances…
At the World Beer Awards, a "Country Winner" is the best beer in a specific country within a particular style category (bear in mind - how many beers of this style in this country have entered! This is not disclosed officially…).
A "Winner" (often referred to as "World's Best") is the ultimate winner of the entire competition, chosen from among all the Country Winners.
Essentially, Country Winners are regional/local champions that compete for the global title of World's Best.
For Luxembourg entries were covered by international judges in England.
The entries for Luxembourg, creating fierce competition, were rather manageable with just a handful of beers from even less breweries having entered…overall (not per category).
Last but not least, brewery members participating as judges in the very same competition their beer(s) were handed in, creates a potential conflict of interest.
Taking things with a pinch of salt certainly helps in your well educated decision of what beer(s) to choose.
