We are helping one of our regular volunteers with research related to the opinions of migrants in the top sectors of Lithuania.

If you could fill out this survey, you can help the organisations Invest Lithuania and Work in Lithuania be informed for their strategies on making these local sectors attractive places to work and invest in globally.

They would like to hear from you if you have been living in Lithuania for more than 12 months and are:
• an international professional, specialist, technician, manager, or executive working in a role that requires specialised knowledge, technical or professional skills, and relevant professional experience; OR
• an international student in the final year of a Bachelor's programme, or enrolled in a Master's or PhD programme in Lithuania;
AND your work or field of study is related to one of the following sectors: Life Sciences, Engineering and Manufacturing, Green Economy, Business Services, Financial Services and FinTech, Defence Industry, Digital Technologies.

There are some opportunities at various Lithuanian Universities and Colleges to get free Lithuanian language courses if you are a third-country national (non-EU citizen). Often they fill up really quick, so try to keep an eye on relevant communication channels.

When we come across something free or affordable we try to share it, so that everyone can know about accessible Lithuanian Learning resources and guidance.

We are always looking for volunteers! If you know a friendly Lithuanian speaker, try to bring them along. No previous experience or skills necessary, and the time commitment is very flexible.

The best way to join is to just come to the events in person, there is no prior registration necessary :)

Hey everyone, I have a call to action for you - invite your Lithuanian speaking friends to our club. It's a fun place to socialise, meet new people, help others. We keep it casual, you don't need to have experience teaching, just willingness to chat and help.

Our club is based on volunteer help, and learning the Lithuanian language is very topical. We have about 60 people who help us in speaking groups, some people consistently, some once - and absolutely everything is greatly appreciated. But still even with so much support, interest in learning Lithuanian is much greater. Lately we had trouble getting enough people on Friday's in Adomo Mickevičiaus library (Vilniaus apskrities Adomo Mickevičiaus viešoji biblioteka), so if you can join yourself or invite others, even for one time, it'll be nice.

If you are interested in joining, just come 20 min before club meeting and we'll explain everything on the spot or write to us. If you have questions check out website https://kalbakartu.lt/ or just write to us.

P.S. I can't offer much since this club is non-profit with 0 income, but if you join as a volunteer from this post I'll get you a drink of your choice.

Всем привет! У меня есть просьба - пригласите своих друзей, говорящих по-литовски, в наш клуб. Это замечательное место, чтобы пообщаться, познакомиться с новыми людьми и помочь другим. У нас всё неформально: опыт преподавания не нужен, достаточно только желания поболтать и помочь.

Наш клуб существует только благодаря добровольцам, а тема изучения литовского сейчас очень актуальна. В разговорных группах нам помогают около 60 человек: кто-то приходит регулярно, кто-то был всего раз - и я искренне благодарен абсолютно за любую помощь. Но даже при такой поддержке интерес к изучению литовского гораздо больше. В последнее время нам было сложно собрать достаточно людей на пятницы в Библиотеке Адама Мицкевича, так что если сможете прийти сами или позвать кого-то ещё, хоть на один раз - будет здорово.

(EN) Fact of the day: there are plenty of Lithuanian words that can have different meanings depending on the context they are used in. One of the examples is the word “galva”. The most frequent meaning of this word is undoubtedly a physical body part. However, do you know that the word might also mean mind/intellect, head of the group/leader or an idiom meaning not to worry (nesuk galvos)? In how many ways do you use the word “galva” in your daily life? What other words with several meanings do you know?

(RU) Факт дня: в литовском языке есть множество слов, значение которых меняется в зависимости от контекста. Один из примеров - “galva”. Чаще всего оно, конечно, обозначает часть тела голову. Но знали ли вы, что это слово может также означать ум/интеллект, главу группы/руководителя, а ещё входить в состав идиомы со значением «не переживай» - "nesuk" galvos, дословно «не поворачивать голову»? В скольких значениях вы используете слово galva в повседневной жизни? Какие ещё многозначные слова вы знаете?

Hello everyone, several Kalba Kartu volunteers are going to the annual Kombinatas festival, and we wanted to invite you to join. This year we are speakers, on Friday at 17:00, Andrii and Barbora will talk about an initiative outside of Kalba Kartu that we've been working on, related to helping foreigners in Lithuania and community organizing and we'll stay for the whole festival. Come heckle us :)

Kombinatas is a multi-day festival built around solidarity, equality and left-leaning political ideas. The programme is a mix of panels on political topics, creative workshops, meeting people from all over the world and partying. This year there will be speakers from Ukraine, Belarus, Estonia, Latvia, Denmark, Norway, Italy and of course Lithuania. And don't be afraid, it's a good event for meeting people, and there will be several ice-breaker sessions.

It's happening 13–16 August near Molėtai. Come for any day, entrance is free, although donations are welcome. You can get there by car or by bus, the organizers help arrange a shuttle from Molėtai. Keep in mind it's more of a camping festival, so bring a tent, though there are some spots in a hotel you can try to reserve. Checkout their page for updates Kombinatas Festival. Всем привет! Несколько добровольцев Kalba Kartu едут на ежегодный фестиваль Kombinatas, и мы хотим позвать вас с собой. В этом году мы ещё и выступаем: в пятницу в 17:00 Андрей и Барбора расскажем об инициативе (не косающейся Kalba Kartu), над которой мы работаем. Она связана с помощью иностранцам в Литве и организация сообщества. Приходите закидывать нас вопросами :)

Kombinatas это многодневный фестиваль, построенный вокруг идей солидарности, равенства. В программе будут дискуссии на политические темы, творческие мероприятия, знакомства с людьми со всего мира и вечеринки. В этом году приезжают организаторы из Украины, Беларуси, Эстонии, Латвии, Дании, Норвегии, Италии и, конечно, Литвы. Большая часть мероприятий будут на английском, но не переживайте - это хорошее место, чтобы познакомиться с новыми людьми, и будет с кем поговорить на удобном вам языке.

Фестиваль пройдёт 13–16 августа недалеко от Molėtai. Можно приехать на любой из дней, вход бесплатный, но пожертвования приветствуются. Добраться можно на машине или на автобусе, организаторы помогают доехать из Molėtai.
