With the ongoing summit in Kenya, this is a great opportunity for African voices to be heard. Renewables offer a great opportunity for sustainable futures that could spearhead African development and make a huge difference, while creating jobs in Africa, for Africans! There’s many a ways to contribute to the future of our continent and signing the petition for a just transition is one of them! We’ve seen the recurrent natural disasters and flooding that has affected our African communities, and this is one of the decisions that ensure less of these disasters happen in the future.

First, wildfires are as much a natural disaster as a cyclone! Did you know??? Yes? Good for you. If not? Well now you do! Just take some very hot weather and dry conditions and voila, recipe for this kind of disaster. Well guess what? Both these ‘ingredients’ have been intensified by climate change. Its gotten hotter and so arid regions are even more arid now. It’s a straight line from there isn’t it?

What can you do? Awareness. Lets raise awareness! Remember, we each have a role to play. So double tap and share, you can start living greener and lowering your carbon footprint to ascertain less of this happens in the future. :)

Happy World Environment Day!

World Environment Day is a United Nations declared celebration day for encouraging worldwide awareness and action to protect our environment.

This year’s theme is focused on beating plastic pollution.

Like all other climate action, the ‘littlest’ of contributions go a long long way.

For instance, as an individual, you can use your voice to speak on such matters, you can opt for reusable shopping bags rather than plastic bags as a start, Or that reusable bottle :). The compound effect from multitudes will significantly reduce plastic waste as a result!

On a macroscale, businesses can rethink packaging to incorporate more renewables and less plastic, engineers are looking into ways of incorporating plastic waste into building materials to promote its reusability.

Everyone has a role to play, Your contribution matters.
