Graduation/Commencement Ceremony for Cohort 1 Candidates is slated for July 4, 2026 at the Liberian Learning Center, near Paynesville City Hall. It's going to be a remarkable and memorable event to witness.

Cohort 1 Candidates from the Monrovia-based Institute of Climate Change and Health Research (ICCHR) recently conducted an educational site visit to Firestone Liberia. The purpose of the visit was to gain a practical, firsthand understanding of sustainable, clean energy production and its intersection with environmental health.

Candidates observed a facility that has operated sustainably and been maintained for over seven decades. Firestone Liberia highlighted its ongoing commitment to education, supporting nearly 6,400 employee dependents through its school system and contributing over US $2 million in student scholarships in Margibi since the end of the civil conflict.

As the Institute of Climate Change and Health Research (ICCHR) proudly prepares for its maiden graduation ceremony and celebrates the achievements of its pioneering first cohort, we are delighted to introduce another outstanding member of the Institute’s first elected student leadership team — our dedicated Financial Secretary General, Mr. Emmanuel G. Flomo.

Emmanuel is a passionate young entrepreneur, professional chef, and emerging leader. He continues to demonstrate excellence in leadership, business development, and community engagement. A graduate of Maretha International Preparatory High School, Class of 2019, he distinguished himself early through active student leadership, serving as Students Council President during his academic years.

Driven by a strong passion for leadership and youth empowerment, he earned a Certificate in Leadership from the Impact Africa Summit, further strengthening his commitment to personal growth, service, and transformational leadership.

Professionally, he is a trained Chef and serves as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Supreme Kitchen in partnership with Skills Shift Academy, where he combines creativity, entrepreneurship, and professional culinary expertise to inspire and empower young people through skills development and business innovation.

As a young businessman and aspiring development professional, he is currently pursuing studies in Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Resilience, reflecting his dedication to contributing meaningfully to sustainable development and climate action initiatives.

As the Institute of Climate Change and Health Research (ICCHR) proudly celebrates the completion of its pioneering first cohort and prepares for its historic maiden graduation, we are honored to introduce another exceptional member of the Institute’s first elected student leadership team — our dedicated Secretary General, Mr. Jonathan L. Davis

Mr. Jonathan L. Davis is an emerging Social Statistician, youth leader, and passionate advocate for community development and public engagement. He is currently pursuing studies in Demography and Economics at the University of Liberia, where he continues to build a strong academic and professional foundation in population studies, data analysis, and social research.

With practical experience in data collection, analysis, and behavioral research, Mr. Davis has contributed meaningfully to national development initiatives. He previously participated in fieldwork activities with the Liberia Institute of Statistics and Geo-Information Services (LISGIS) during the National Population and Housing Census, gaining valuable experience in statistical data gathering and community engagement.

In addition to his academic pursuits, Mr. Davis has dedicated over three years of volunteer service as a broadcaster with Radio Karn – Voice of Peace, where he focused on public awareness, youth empowerment, and civic engagement through media and communication.

A committed youth advocate and servant leader, Mr. Davis previously served as Student Council President of Karnplay Inland Academy. He currently serves as Secretary General of the Demography Student Association at the University of Liberia and also as Public Relations Officer for Gbehlay United Youths for Growth and Development, where he leads communication, advocacy, and community outreach efforts.

As part of his continuous professional development, Mr. Davis has received training in Stata and Advanced Microsoft Excel, strengthening his analytical and research capabilities in statistics and data management.

As Secretary General of the ICCHR Cohort One Leadership, Mr. Davis brings dedication, professionalism, and visionary leadership to the student body. His passion for youth development, education, and community service continues to inspire meaningful impact among his peers and within society.

As the Institute of Climate Change and Health Research (ICCHR) continues to celebrate the successful completion of its pioneering first cohort and prepares for its maiden graduation, we are proud to introduce another outstanding member of the Institute’s first elected student leadership team, our distinguished Vice President, Mr. Gordrach S.D. Karpee.

Mr. Gordrach S.D. Karpee is a passionate youth advocate and emerging public leader with a strong commitment to community engagement and social transformation. He currently serves as Secretary General of the Concern Motorcyclists and Tricyclists Advocacy Movement of Liberia, where he actively advocates for the welfare, rights, and empowerment of riders across the country.
In addition, Mr. Karpee serves as Chairman for Tricyclists at the ELWA Junction and Redlight Bob Taylor Community, demonstrating exceptional grassroots leadership and dedication to community organization and representation.

Academically, Mr. Karpee attended the Lord’s Dream Mission Academy located in Thinker’s Village along the RIA Highway. He is currently pursuing higher education at the A. Romeo Horton College of Business and Public Administration, where he is studying Public Administration with a minor in Sociology.
Driven by his passion for professional growth and technological advancement, Mr. Karpee earned a Professional Certificate in Information Technology with emphasis in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Publisher from the THS Advance Institute of Computer Study, formerly located at the Ganta General Market on Zamgbar Street. He further advanced his skills by obtaining an Advanced Certificate in the same discipline from Beyond Measure International located on GSA Road.

As the Institute of Climate Change and Health Research (ICCHR) draws the curtain on its pioneering first cohort and prepares for its maiden graduation ceremony, we are proud to introduce the Institute’s first elected student leadership team.

This dynamic leadership is composed of accomplished professionals and passionate young leaders dedicated to service, advocacy, and transformation. We begin by spotlighting our distinguished Student President, Mr. Cyrus N. Copper.

Mr. Cyrus N. Cooper is the first elected Student President of ICCHR and a distinguished Land Rights Professional with a strong commitment to social justice, climate action, and youth empowerment. He currently serves as the National Youth Coordinator of the Scaling Up Nutrition Civil Society Alliance of Liberia (SUNCSAL) and was recently appointed to the Global Youth Advisory Working Group on Nutrition, Health, and Food Security for West and Central Africa, where he will serve from 2026–2027.

A Geologist and Climate Change Practitioner, Mr. Cooper has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership in advancing gender inclusivity and promoting land rights for women and youth across Liberia. His professional journey reflects a deep passion for advocacy and sustainable development. He previously served with UN Women and later with the Women Care Initiative (WOCI) in Western Liberia as Land Rights Project Coordinator.

Mr. Cooper earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from the University of Liberia and an Advanced Diploma in Project Management from the Conduit of Potentials (CoPs) between 2016 and 2022.

In recognition of his growing impact in the fields of climate, nutrition, and development, he was selected as a 2026 Fellow of the “Closing the Gender Nutrition Gap to Accelerate Climate Actions for Food Transformation and Improved Nutrition Financing” program held in Vietnam from April 8–20, 2026. He also previously participated as a 2023 Fellow of the African Women’s Development Fund (AWDF) International Training in Accra, Ghana, where he completed intensive training in programming, monitoring, and evaluation.

In 2025, Mr. Cooper was honored with an invitation to participate in the Global Fund-Investment Group forum, a high-level platform that fostered global dialogue on addressing emerging crises in the land, nutrition, and climate sectors while exploring innovative financing mechanisms to meet urgent global challenges.
