Yesterday, August 19, 2026, we held a National Dialogue on Enhancing Local Governance and Accelerating County Development Agenda (CDA) Implementation in Liberia, in collaboration with the Governance Commission and Ministry of Local Government.

It was a timely national event for confronting one of Liberiaโ€™s most important governance challenges: how to translate decentralization laws, County Development Agendas, and public resources into tangible improvements in the lives of citizens.

Powerful statements were delivered by Hon. Dorwohn T. Gleekia, Representative, Electoral District No. 6, Nimba County and Chairman, Committee on Good Governance and Govโ€™t; Hon. Edward K. Mulbah, Deputy Minister of Local Government, Ministry of Local Government; Ambassador Gerard Considine, Embassy of Ireland in Liberia; Eric Boykai, Interim National Program Coordinator of the Liberia Decentralisation Support Program (LDSP/UNDP); and Hon. Alaric K. Tokpa, Acting Chairman, Governance Commission.

Discussions were focused on practical ways to strengthen local governance, promote meaningful citizen participation, accelerate the implementation of County Development Agendas, and improve public service delivery across Liberia.

The national dialogue brought together key stakeholders including representatives of the Legislature, government institutions, county authorities, civil society, CAAT members, and development partners. Stakeholders at the event committed to complimenting existing efforts on decentralization and local governance to ensure that the country move from policy commitment to implementation, from plans to results, and from decentralization on paper to accountable, citizen-centered governance in practice.

The dialogue was convened under the Strengthening Political Governance and Accountability in Liberia Program, funded by the Embassy of Ireland in Liberia, and implemented through the Governance CSOs Consortium including Naymote, CENTAL and Center for Democratic Governance.

Naymote Partners for Democratic Development believe democracy becomes stronger when citizens are informed, engaged, and empowered to take action.

Through civic education, leadership development, policy engagement, research, community dialogue, and youth empowerment, we create opportunities for citizenโ€™s especially young people to understand their rights, participate in decision-making, and hold leaders and institutions accountable.
From communities to institutions, we turn knowledge into participation and participation into impact.

Our goal is simple: build informed citizens, strengthen democratic institutions, and

Young people are not just the leaders of tomorrow, they are citizens, voters, innovators, advocates, and changemakers today.
When young people participate in elections, civic dialogue, community decision-making, and public policy, they bring fresh ideas, hold institutions accountable, and help make democracy more inclusive, responsive, and representative.

Investing in youth participation is investing in stronger institutions and a more resilient democratic future.

At Naymote, we believe young people must not only have a seat at the table, but they must also have the knowledge, tools, and opportunity to shape the conversation.
