Kingdom Foundation Institute is a private christian nonparochial school registered with the ministry of education, republic of Liberia in 2000 and serving this community (soul clinic community) since 2003. In 1996, Jonathan and Comfort Enders, then serving their fifth year as missionary staff of the great commision movement (campus crusade for christ international) and taking refuge in Nigeria fel
t the burden,
the need, and the limitations for quality christian schooling for thier 3 children. In this situation they were introduced to the accelerated christian education (school of tomorrow) home schooling curriculum by a colleague. God provided some money to purchase some
of the materials that enabled them to join with other families t the time to provide kindergarten education for their children using the ACE curriculum. On return to Liberia in 1998 and during much prayer, discussion and consultations, it became very obvious that a school needed to be set up in answer to a God-given vision. This would be an opportunity to include other chilren in a Christian learning environment that encourages excellence within a society that was in dire need of such healthy alternative. the Enders, however, took a faith step by obtaining in 2000 a temporary permit from the ministry of education to operate an elementary school. Then they used the only space they
had....a room in their rented 4 room house. Now with four students....one Great Commission Movement staff child and the Enders' own 3 children...Comfort was teaching in the mornings. At the same time the
Enders made an arrangement to purchase a one-acre property designated for KFI on a small instalment payment plan. This was another faith step in the direction that they felt God was leading. At this point
there was no way of knowing if and when this property will ever be compleely paid ofr or developed but God did provide through a one-time gift froma family friend and the Enders' missionary allowance. During the following three years, Kingdom Foundation Institute 'roamed' through four sharing situations. This sharing was largely circumstantial (KFI could not afford a school building to back its mission of
providing an appropiate school facilityto serve moree children in one location) but it also aided in sharing the vision with others. During that 'roaming' period, K. Foundation organized one (1) Christian School
awareness conference hosted by the Great Commision Movement of Liberia and facilitated by John DeJager of Christian Schools International (CSI), USA. The awareness conference brought together 38
persons, pastors, proprietors, and administrators of Christian private schools and a CEO of a Christian School. Three (3) Teachers' conferences that now remain an annual tradition quickly followed this initial
awareness. So the vision is here to stay...
Finallly in April 2003 one of the teachers cut the first bundle of sticks for the construction of what became the first Kingdom Foundation Institute school building to hold a total of 81 students from the
community. Eight teachers including the administration served these students. The stick-mat-tarpauline 8 room building was constructed on Ma Kebeh Freeman's one-acre property that she donated for the
school's temporary use without any financial charges. The soul Clinic Community campus was organized in the context fo war-ravished, subsistence rural neighborhood to provide hight quality academic and
character training to neighborhood children. All materials and labor came from the generous labor of teachers, some of the fees paid by some parents, Enders' missionary allowance, food-for-work
arrangements, and donations froma non-government relief agency. text books and supplies were donations throught the Great Commision Movement of Liberia. The school program was Kindergarten through 5th grade plus an accelerated learning program for over aged
neighborhood children. One kindergarten class was held in a village nearly 20 minutes' wald away for children that could not walk the distance crossing the water to come to the school building in New
Kaymahtown. As the ministry kept growing, Jonathan and Comfort chose to focus their entire ministry on christian schooling through Kingdom Foundation Institute, so in August 2005 they resigned from Great Commision
Movement. Their ministry experience of 14 years witht the GCML is an asset in creating a nurturing learning environment for national leadeship building even though by now the school property has still not
been paid for in full. Through the support of Mr. John DeJager's organization, Partners for Learning Across Cultures, gifts of thousands of of dollars from American and Liberian friends, made part of a dream come true when on
March 18, 2006 the ground breaking for the permanent campus of KFI took place. On August 25, 2007, the president of the Republic of Liberia, Mrs, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf cut the ribbon at the door of the Kindergarten entrance during the grand opening of the partly finifhsed school building. Classes began in this building on September 14, 2007. The constrction, supplies and equipment for the current 1000 square foot 23-classroom story building is a miracle that has brought at least 8 different
organizations and not less than 70 individual hearts and hands from across miles and within Liberia together in the Soul Clinic Community of Paynesville City, Liberia. Kingdom Foundaation Institute remains a model of what a wise person said centuries ago: Do what is necessary; then do what is possible, and soon you will be doing the impossible. God continues to
accomplishthe impossible at KFI. A founding member of the Christian Schools Network, Incorporated and in a service relationship with other non-network schools, KFI extends its unique Teachers' Professional Development classes
initiated by Calvin College, USA in 2008 and other educational resources to schools and students in close prroximity whenever such services are available.
