TUEP at the West African Convening on Child Domestic Work & Forced Labour – 2025 (Lagos, Nigeria)
This week, The Urban Expression Project (TUEP) proudly stood among powerful voices from across the continent at the West African Convening on Child Domestic Work & Forced Labour 2025, hosted by MAEJT in Lagos, Nigeria.
The experience was more than a conference, it was a moment of awakening, connection, and renewed commitment to the protection and empowerment of children and youth across Africa.
Being in a space filled with passionate advocates, young leaders, community builders, and organizations working tirelessly to end child domestic labour reminded us of one truth:
Every child deserves safety, dignity, education, and the opportunity to dream without fear.
What This Means for Liberia and TUEP’s Mission:
Representing Liberia at this convening reinforced how urgent the work is at home. As we connected with leaders from more than a dozen African countries, we realized how deeply intertwined our struggles and solutions are.
For TUEP, this experience strengthens our roadmap for 2026:
–Expanding child-protection and youth-support programs in marginalized communities.
–Building stronger collaborations with regional and international partners.
–Introducing new community-education campaigns on child rights and safe migration.
–Creating safe creative and learning spaces for vulnerable youth.
–Amplifying young people’s voices so they can lead the change in their own communities.
Liberian children and youth deserve to grow without exploitation and TUEP is more committed than ever to making that vision real.
A Heartfelt Appreciation because this opportunity would not have been possible without Artvocacy, whose invitation opened the door for TUEP to participate, learn, and grow. Their support made it possible for us to travel from Liberia to Nigeria and engage with some of the most inspiring changemakers across the region.
A Continental Movement for Protection and Hope:
The convening reminded us that the fight against child domestic work and forced labour is not just national, it is African. Together, we are building a future where:
–Children are protected
–Youth are empowered
– And communities rise above exploitation through knowledge, unity, and action.
TUEP returns home inspired, energized, and ready to take bold steps in 2026.
This is only the beginning.
For the children. For the youth.
For Liberia. For Africa.
