The Executive Director of The Rescue Initiative For At Risk Youths (RIARY) a non profitable organization, Mr Cyrus Mapleh, has lauded the Boakai-led administration for a strong position taken to declared a fight head-on against the proliferation and sales of narcotic drugs in the country

Since the President launched the fight against narcotics here, the RIARY's boss noted, such commitment to making Liberia drug-freed, has resonated with the citizenry who have equally stood up to join forces with the government.

The citizenry's compliance with the President's drug-fight initiative, Mapleh quickly pointed out that such move supports his efforts in making here a drug-freed nation.

"The fight against narcotics in Liberia with the President's support, will truly have the nation fostering growth and civil virtue," he added.

The RIARY's boss was speaking with reporters Friday, April 24, 2026 at his Paynesville offices, outside Monrovia when he made this assertion.

In furtherance, Mapleh said upon the President's recent proclamation to the nation over the fight against the spread of narcotics, such he emphasized has yielded an immense needed result with the citizenry, whom he then added, are bent on leaving no stone unturned in supporting the government.

He mentioned as being supportive and incredible, the President's unbowed stance to make certain that his administration prosecute individuals found trading narcotics or smuggling the substances into the country before a competent court of law.

Such position taken by President Boakai, the RIARY's boss outlined that is in no uncertain term a move to weaponise the judiciary to remain unwavering and uncompromised in handling narcotic cases.

He further observed that the President's immense support and contribution to ensuring that every community across Liberia is drug-freed, places the nation on the right trajectory to protect the future of its youthful population many of whom he noted have been disadvantaged and drug-addicted over the years.

Such an immeasurable support by President Boakai towards the eradication of narcotics here, the RIARY's boss said has the potential to brighten the future of the nation with its young folks being skilled in various areas of vocation to create a viable middle class economy.

Moreover, the RIARY's boss has expressed gratefulness to President Boakai on behalf of his organization for what he termed as a visionary Initiative by him to wage war on the use and abuse of narcotics here.

"On behalf of the Rescue Initiative for At-Risk Youth (RIARY), I wish to extend my deepest appreciation to His Excellency, President Joseph Nyumah Boakai Sr., for his unwavering support to our institution and his tireless fight against the scourge of drugs and its abuse in Liberia," Mapleh said.

He noted that President’s recent Proclamation, declaring the fight against drugs and illicit substances as a national priority, marks a historic and transformative moment for our country.

"This bold action has sent a strong message that the Government of Liberia is fully committed to protecting the future of our nation and our young people," he added.

Apparently taking a firmed position against the spread of narcotics, he added, it has been too long, the plague of drug abuse has destroyed families, endangered communities, and jeopardized the potential of our youthful population.

"RIARY, as an organization dedicated to rehabilitating and reintegrating at-risk youths, has felt the direct impact of this Proclamation and this has not only strengthened our resolve but also provided national visibility and validation for the work we do daily in communities," the RIARY's boss told reporters.

He then indicated that visibly, it is now believable the President’s leadership gives hope to thousands of vulnerable young people who are seeking a path away from drug addiction and hopelessness to recovery, productivity, and dignity.

Mapleh added, they are encouraged that under the stewardship of President Boakai, one can clearly see the enabling environment where government, civil society, and community organizations like RIARY can collaborate more effectively to combat drugs, promote rehabilitation, and restore hope
"The President's Proclamation has inspired us to redouble our efforts, knowing that the highest office in the land recognizes and supports this noble cause," Mapleh said.

The RIARY's boss further said along with his able lieutenants remains grateful to President Boakai, for his vision, courage, and compassion shown for national development.

RESCUE INITIATIVE FOR AT-RISK YOUTH- RIARY

In communities where hope is often overshadowed by addiction, poverty, and neglect, the Rescue Initiative for at-risks youth (RIARY) stands as a lifeline for at-risk youth battling substance abuse. This initiative is rooted in one clear belief: no young person is beyond redemption, recovery, or reintegration.

Our recent visit to one of the ghettos reflects the heart of this mission. Standing face-to-face with vulnerable youth, we engaged them through direct awareness, honest conversations, and practical support. Using community dialogue and outreach, we addressed the dangers of drug abuse, the possibilities of recovery, and the reality that support systems do exist for those willing to take the first step toward change. Alongside awareness, we provided donations as an immediate expression of care, meeting urgent needs while building trust.

What We Do

The Rescue Initiative adopts a holistic approach that moves beyond rescue to restoration:
• Awareness & Prevention: Community sensitization on the effects of drug abuse, peer pressure, and risky behaviors, delivered in spaces where at-risk youth live and gather.
• Rehabilitation Support: Linking drug users to counseling, rehabilitation services, and psychosocial support to begin the journey of recovery with dignity.
• Skill Development & Reintegration: Preparing rehabilitated youth for reintegration into society through life-skills training, vocational opportunities, mentorship, and pathways to employment.
• Community Reintegration: Working with families and communities to reduce stigma and create supportive environments where recovered youth can thrive.

Our Impact

This initiative is not just about removing youth from harmful environments, it is about restoring identity, rebuilding confidence, and reconnecting lives to purpose. Every outreach, every conversation, and every donation is a reminder to these young people that they are seen, valued, and capable of transformation.

Our Commitment

We remain committed to rescuing at-risk youth from the grip of drug abuse and guiding them toward rehabilitation and reintegration. Through compassion, consistency, and community partnership, we are shaping safer communities and empowering young people to reclaim their futures.

Because recovery is possible. Reintegration is necessary. And every life is worth saving.
