✅Target Beneficiaries:

✅Expected Impact:
This project will directly equip 2,000 children to start the school year, reduce absenteeism caused by lack of materials, and send a strong message that their future matters. It will also demonstrate effective collaboration between youth organizations, partners, and local communities.

✅Sustainability:
By engaging local schools, PTAs, and education offices, the project builds community ownership. The visibility of partner support is expected to attract further investment in rural education.

Dear Toleta KoplahToe ,

We remember the day you told us you were leaving. You had one request: “Sam, I will be leaving to get my Master’s. Please take care of the organization.” You left us with a purpose, and you left knowing this degree was for all of us.

Today that purpose has come to pass. You are now a graduate with a Master’s Degree in Microbiology.

From Camp David Youth Organization to you: we are so proud. Thank you for standing firm for this organization before you ever stood on that graduation stage.

May the Lord continue to order your steps and crown your efforts with even greater success.

Congratulations on this well-deserved achievement.

We're in an end to (FGM) Female Ge***al Mutilation/Cutting
dialogue hosted by Children Recourse Institute Of Liberia....

It’s the partial or total removal of the external female genitalia for non-medical reasons. In Liberia it’s closely tied to initiation into the Sande Society, a traditional women’s secret society/bush school.

About 32% of girls and women aged 15-49 have undergone FGM nationally. Other recent data puts it at 38.2%. It’s higher in rural areas, up to 52%, and highest in the North Western region at ∼ 60-68%. About 28% of girls aged 15-19 have been cut.

WHO classifies it as a human rights violation and form of gender-based violence. It can cause chronic pain, infection, hemorrhage, childbirth complications, psychological trauma, anxiety, depression, and in some cases death's.

Liberia still does not have a specific national law permanently banning FGM for all ages. There have been temporary measures:
- 2018: President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf signed a 1-year executive order banning FGM for girls under 18
- 2022-2025: National Council of Chiefs and Elders announced a 3-year moratorium, then a ban, with ceremonies in 5 of 11 practicing counties including Montserrado
- 2025-2026: The “Women and Girls Protection Bill” was submitted by President Joseph Boakia to permanently criminalize FGM and other harmful practices. It’s still before the Legislature as of early 2026.

Current situation: Despite bans/moratoriums, reports of FGM activity continue. In Sept 2024 civil society flagged a “widespread resurgence”, and in Aug 2025 a Sande bush school graduation with 500+ girls was reported in Lofa County. Enforcement is hard because of the secret nature of Sande and underreporting.

Efforts to end it UN, UN Women, UNICEF, and local groups are running alternative livelihood programs for former “zoes”/practitioners, community education, and pushing for the Women and Girls Protection Bill to pass.
