Today marks another significant milestone in our collective fight to end Female Ge***al Mutilation (FGM) in Liberia. The Child Resource Institute Liberia (CRIL) officially launched Phase 2 of the Ending Female Ge***al Mutilation Advocacy Project (END FGM) with members of the press, partners, and stakeholders in attendance.
The event brought together voices united under one purpose to advocate for the protection, empowerment, and dignity of Liberian girls and women.
Our Advocacy Officer, Ms. Sandra T. Kanswen, took the media through the background, goals, and objectives of the program, highlighting the urgent need for continued awareness, community engagement, and policy advocacy. She emphasized the importance of empowering communities with education and knowledge to challenge traditional practices that harm rather than protect.
Our Executive Director, Mr. Victor Howard, provided a detailed status update on the progress made under Phase 1 and outlined the key focus areas for Phase 2. He stressed CRIL’s ongoing commitment to working with government agencies, traditional leaders, youth, and women’s groups to ensure that the voices of survivors and advocates are amplified across Liberia.
The official launch was conducted by our esteemed Board Member, Mr. Nelson Nukolo, who reaffirmed the organization’s dedication to sustaining efforts that drive real, lasting change. He encouraged continued collaboration among partners and community members to ensure that the next generation of Liberian girls can grow up free from the threat of FGM.
This launch symbolizes more than just the beginning of a new phase it represents renewed energy, strengthened partnerships, and an unwavering stand against gender-based violence in all its forms.
We extend our sincere gratitude to our partner, , for their steadfast support, trust, and partnership throughout this journey. Their contribution continues to empower our advocacy and strengthen the movement to end FGM in Liberia.
Together, we stand for freedom, dignity, and the rights of every girl. The journey continues — and we will not stop until FGM becomes history.
