Today, Clean Ocean View Liberia, together with the community dwellers and the maintenance team of the PHP Community/Park, carried out a beach restoration activity aimed at protecting our ocean and community from the growing threat of plastic pollution. Plastic pollution is dangerous not only to humans but also to marine life that depends on a clean and healthy ocean to survive.
It is time for all of us to take serious action to ensure that our streets, drainage systems, rivers, lakes, mangroves, beaches, and oceans remain free from pollution. Protecting our environment is a shared responsibility, and every small action counts.

Here are three important steps we can all take to help reduce pollution:
Stop throwing plastic on the streets – Always dispose of your waste properly.
Separate your waste – Waste separation helps improve proper waste management and recycling.
Avoid burning waste – Burning waste contributes to air pollution, makes breathing difficult, and increases heat in our environment.

Together, we can create cleaner communities, healthier oceans, and a better future for the next generation.

Theme: FROM AWARENESS TO ACTION

On March 11–12, Clean Ocean View Liberia successfully held a two-day environmental training with the community dwellers of PHP Park in Monrovia. The workshop aimed to raise awareness about environmental challenges and empower community members to take action to protect their environment.

Day 1 – Understanding the Problem
Participants discussed some of the key environmental issues affecting our communities today:
-Waste Pollution – Poor waste disposal leads to dirty communities, health risks, and overflowing landfills.
-Water Contamination – Pollution from waste and sewage threatens safe drinking water and aquatic life.
- Plastic Pollution – Plastics block waterways, harm marine animals, and damage our coastal environment.
- Air Pollution – Smoke from burning waste and other activities affects the air we breathe.
-Climate Change – Rising temperatures, coastal erosion, and extreme weather continue to impact our communities and livelihoods.

Day 2 – From Awareness to Action
After understanding the problems, participants focused on practical solutions:
-Reviewing lessons from Day 1
-Learning simple waste management practices such as reducing, reusing, recycling, and proper waste disposal
-Preparing for community clean-up activities
- Encouraging leadership, teamwork, and community responsibility

At the end of the training, participants left with new knowledge, practical skills, and the motivation to become environmental ambassadors in their community.
The training created a strong sense of collective responsibility. Community members are now more ready to work together with Clean Ocean View Liberia to keep their environment clean, protect marine life, and promote sustainable practices.

Together, we can protect our ocean and build cleaner and healthier communities for Liberia.

🌊 Change begins with awareness, but real impact comes from action.

Clean Ocean View Liberia, alongside the PHP community and other dedicated youth organizations, had a truly meaningful and impactful day restoring our ocean and uplifting our community. It was a day filled with action, learning, and unity—one that reminded us of the power of working together for a common purpose.

With the generous support of our sponsor, this initiative became a reality. Their belief in our mission enabled us to take real steps toward protecting our marine environment and creating cleaner, healthier coastal communities. We are deeply grateful and look forward to continued collaboration to expand our impact.

Beyond the cleanup, we focused on education. Community dwellers and young people were engaged in practical lessons on waste management, especially the importance of waste separation. By sharing knowledge, we are empowering communities to become long-term protectors of their environment, not just participants for a day.

This initiative was more than removing waste from the shoreline. We did not only clean with our hands—we came together with united hearts. The spirit of teamwork, responsibility, and hope was felt throughout the day. It showed us that when youth stand together with purpose, real change is possible.

As we move forward, Clean Ocean View Liberia remains committed to protecting our ocean, educating our communities, and inspiring action for a sustainable future. Together, we can—and we will—make a difference for our blue planet.

Wetlands are our natural shield.
Wetlands, including mangroves, protect our communities from flooding and strong waves. They are home for fish, help our climate, and support clean water for our people. When we destroy wetlands, we put our lives and future at risk.
On this World Wetlands Day, Clean Ocean View Liberia calls on everyone to protect our wetlands.
