Today, on International Women’s Day, we stand in solidarity with women across Liberia and the world. This year’s theme reminds us that true progress comes when every voice is heard, every barrier is broken, and every woman is empowered to thrive.

At Equal Voice Network Liberia, we celebrate the courage, resilience, and leadership of women in our communities mothers, daughters, sisters, advocates, and changemakers who continue to inspire hope and drive transformation.

We reaffirm our commitment to:

• Amplifying women’s voices in advocacy and decision-making.
• Championing equality in education, health, and economic opportunities.
• Empowering young women and girls to rise above challenges and lead with confidence.
• Building communities of respect and dignity, where women’s rights are protected and celebrated.

On this day, let us not only honor women’s achievements but also renew our collective resolve to dismantle inequality and create a Liberia where every woman and girl can live free, safe, and fulfilled.

We are deeply outraged and saddened by reports that a Police Support Unit (PSU) officer allegedly brutalized 17-year-old Victoria David in the Soul Clinic Community, Paynesville. Such an act, if confirmed, represents a grave violation of human rights, the dignity of our young people, and the trust that citizens place in law enforcement.

Equal Voice Network Liberia stands firmly against all forms of violence, especially when perpetrated by those entrusted to protect and serve. No child should ever be subjected to brutality, intimidation, or abuse at the hands of authority. This incident underscores the urgent need for accountability, transparency, and reform within our policing structures.

We call on:

• The Liberia National Police to immediately investigate this allegation and ensure justice is served.
• Civil society, community leaders, and youth advocates to unite in demanding protection for our children and respect for human rights.
• All citizens to remain vigilant and continue raising their voices against abuse of power.

Victoria David deserves justice. Our community deserves safety. Liberia deserves a police force that upholds integrity, compassion, and respect for the rule of law.

Equal Voice Network Liberia will continue to amplify the voices of victims, stand with the vulnerable, and demand accountability wherever injustice occurs.

The family of the late Rachel Korto continues to walk a painful road in search of justice for their beloved daughter, whose life was tragically cut short. Rachel was more than a name—she was a daughter, a sister, and a friend whose dreams and contributions to her community were stolen in an act of violence that has left her family and neighbors in deep sorrow.

In the quiet moments of grief, her parents and siblings recount the joy Rachel brought into their home, the laughter that filled their evenings, and the hope she carried for a brighter future. That hope was shattered, but her family refuses to let her memory fade into silence. They have risen with courage, demanding accountability and justice, not only for Rachel but for every Liberian family who has endured such loss.

Their quest is not just personal it is a call to the nation. They remind us that justice delayed is justice denied, and that every citizen deserves protection under the law. The family’s resilience is a testament to the strength of ordinary Liberians who refuse to accept impunity.

Equal Voice Network Liberia stands in solidarity with the Korto family, amplifying their voices and urging authorities to act with urgency and fairness. Rachel’s story is a reminder that behind every statistic is a human life, a family, and a community yearning for justice.

Justice for Rachel is justice for all.

Equal Voice Network Liberia strongly condemns the recent actions of a content creator who, in pursuit of social media engagement, chose to ask a child to recount the tragic loss of her mother—whose life was taken by her father.

This act is not only unethical but also deeply harmful. It exploits the pain of a child for public consumption, disregarding her right to privacy, dignity, and healing. Such content retraumatizes survivors and undermines the collective responsibility we all share to protect children from further emotional harm.

We call on the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection to urgently intervene and demand that this content creator immediately take down the post. Safeguarding children from exploitation in digital spaces must remain a national priority, and accountability must be enforced to prevent similar violations in the future.

Equal Voice Network Liberia stands firmly with survivors and children, advocating for compassion, protection, and justice. We urge all content creators and media practitioners to uphold ethical standards and prioritize humanity over sensationalism.

Equal Voice Network Liberia Condemnation Statement

On January 26, 2026, the Soul Clinic community was shaken by the tragic death of Rachel Kortoe, who was allegedly beaten to death by her boyfriend, Edwin Mulbah.

Equal Voice Network Liberia condemns this horrific act of domestic violence in the strongest possible terms. Violence against women is an assault on our shared humanity, dignity, and the values of justice and equality that we uphold.

Rachel’s life was cut short in a brutal and senseless manner, and we stand with her family, friends, and the Soul Clinic community in mourning this devastating loss. Her death is not just a private tragedy it is a public call to action.

We demand:

• Swift and transparent investigation into this case.
• Accountability and justice for Rachel.
• Stronger protections for women and girls against domestic violence.
• Community solidarity to break the silence and stigma surrounding abuse.

Domestic violence must never be tolerated. Rachel’s story is a painful reminder that urgent action is needed to protect women and ensure that perpetrators face the full weight of the law.

Equal Voice Network Liberia calls on law enforcement, judicial authorities, civil society, and every Liberian to unite in saying NO to domestic violence and to fight for justice for Rachel.

Her voice has been silenced, but together, we must ensure her memory fuels change.

Justice for Rachel. Justice for all victims of domestic violence.

Equal Voice Network Liberia Condemnation Statement

Equal Voice Network Liberia strongly condemns the heinous act committed by Peter Bon Jallah in sodomizing a young boy. This is a grave violation of human dignity, a crime against innocence, and a betrayal of the trust every child deserves from adults and society. Such actions are intolerable and must be met with the full weight of justice.

We emphasize that this matter is not political and must never be reduced to partisan interests or agendas. The abuse of a child is a moral and legal crime that transcends politics. Our collective focus must remain on protecting the victim, ensuring accountability, and safeguarding the rights of all children in Liberia.

Equal Voice Network Liberia calls on community leaders, civil society, and justice institutions to act decisively. We stand in solidarity with the victim and their family, and we reaffirm our commitment to amplifying voices against abuse, exploitation, and violence in all forms.

Children deserve protection, not politics. Justice must prevail.
