As part of the African Astronomical Society (AfAS) Africa Day celebrations, we are pleased to launch a continent-wide initiative titled: "Voices of African Astronomy"

This campaign aims to highlight the people, stories, and aspirations that shape astronomy across Africa today. We are inviting members of the African astronomy community, including students, researchers, engineers, and outreach practitioners, to share short personal contributions reflecting on their experiences and perspectives.

We welcome submissions in the form of:
* Short videos (30โ€“60 seconds), or
* Images accompanied by a text message

One Year of Purpose, Passion, and Progress โœจ

This past Sunday, April 12, 2026, marked a truly special milestone for us. One year since we began this incredible journey.

From a simple vision to a growing movement, this mission has only been possible because of your unwavering support, belief, and commitment. Every effort, every contribution, and every moment you have invested has helped shape what the Liberian Astronomical Society is becoming today. For that, I am deeply grateful.

As we reflect on this journey, I would like to honor and recognize the founding members who took the first bold step with us:
Sadayah Isaac Davis (General Secretary), Adrienne Uche Duru (Vice President), and Ceree Williams (Public Relations Officer).
Your courage to believe in this vision from the beginning will never be forgotten.

I would also like to give special recognition to individuals whose continuous dedication and outstanding contributions have stood out throughout this first year:
Sadayah Isaac Davis and James S. Dennis.
Your commitment has gone beyond expectations, and your impact has been deeply felt across our mission.

As we continue to grow, leadership must also evolve to reflect availability, responsibility, and the needs of the mission. Due to evolving commitments and scheduling demands, we have made thoughtful adjustments to our executive structure.

As Founder and President of the Liberian Astronomical Society, I am pleased to officially appoint:

Mr. Sadayah Isaac Davis as Vice President

Mr. James Socrates Dennis as Secretary General

Mr. Ceree Williams will continue to serve as Coordinator for Public Relations, maintaining his vital role in shaping our public voice.
Ms. Adrienne Uche Duru will transition into the role of Coordinator for Education and Outreach, where her strengths will continue to inspire and impact our community.

๐ŸŒ Meet Daniel Obajemu, our new World Space Week National Coordinator for Liberia!

Daniel is an astronomy educator, research analyst, and science outreach leader, and the Founder & President of the Liberian Astronomical Society (LAS), Liberiaโ€™s first astronomical society. Through LAS, he leads nationwide initiatives in astronomy education, STEM outreach, and youth engagement, inspiring the next generation of scientists. Daniel also coordinates research under the Pan-African Citizen Science e-Laboratory (PACS e-Lab) and holds multiple international roles with the International Astronomical Union (IAU), promoting astronomy and citizen science across Liberia and beyond.

World Space Week (October 4-10) is the largest space event on Earth, bringing together thousands of activities in over 90 countries each year to inspire students, connect communities, and highlight the impact of space. Coordinators like Daniel make it possible.
