Today we began our journey to scale Healthy Masculinity in various High Schools. Starting with the Paynesville Community High School at Vooker Mission, we established our first Healthy Masculinity Club bringing together about 10 boys to serve as positive masculine and role models for others out in schools.

Today, the discussion focused on Masculinity as a whole, the societal impacts on boys(how society shape boys and men), healthy and toxic masculinity and consent. They expressed how essential this is and is willing to help to reshape masculinity.

Thanks to our Partner Community Health Care Initiative INC. for the support and we look forward to other partners in support Healthy Masculinity.

Today we took the discussion to the university.
In commemoration of the International Women’s Day, we talked with students from the Stella Maris Polytechnic University at the UL park about IWD and the barriers women face in society.

The discussion centered around IWD celebration, women and girls right, male involvement in challenging harmful norms around women and better serve as allies. The young people were very opened with the discussion as they had the opportunity to talk to their peers about these issues.

Recommendations
✅ We should talk about males issues as well
✅ Discussion like this should be done often with young people
✅ The discussion should also be done at the university as well

These are the recommendations from the young people. We remain committed to empowering young people with the knowledge to make the change they want to see.

Happy International Women’s Day to all the resilient women out there.
Women face so many challenges ranging from social, economical, political and cultural and experience violence as well: physical, emotional and mental.

We stand with every woman out there and will continue to engage young girls and boys to understand the rights of females.

Today we honored an invitation from SRHR Champions - Liberia to attend the National Youth GBV Dialogue. The session brought together young people from diverse backgrounds, Government officials and policymakers to better understand the roles of young people in tackling GBV in Liberia. Conversations were centered around existing policies, coordination among ministries and how to empower young people and Civil Society Actors in the fight against GBV.

Young people engaged and ask Government officials about how GBV affects them and gave recommendations to help improve the GBV response.

Some recommendations are:
✅ Improve peer to peer interaction and awareness
✅ Enhance school based awareness on SGBV
✅ Dissemination of information through social media and local radio stations
✅ Dialect-based awareness for decentralization purposes.
✅ Improve Positive Masculinity education among men

Healing Bridge Liberia remains committed in the fight against GBV.
